new cbr250rs - $3000otd?
http://www.funbike.com/shop/honda/2012-honda-cbr250r/
they apparently have not sold a single cbr250 since they got this shipment in and dont want to deal with them any more so they are selling their stock at cost.

Not bad at all...but figure in the additional costs to race prep it. I wonder though...does the Ninja 250 or the CBR250 have the upper edge in terms of performance?

Whatever you do, don't give FBC your primary phone number as they will harass the **** out of you every day, even if you tell them you're not interested anymore or you've already made a purchase somewhere else.

I use to look at the CBR250r forums all the time because I really wanted this bike. However the price just ain't worth it IMO. Every person on the forums that got it from a dealer had to pay all those fees and that adds a good chunk of money there. |

its slower
you can find used new-gens for cheaper than this if you want a racebike. but if you want a cheap street bike with less power, style and ability than the ninja...

I called the store and here's the breakdown:
2999 - motorcycle 395 - freight 495 - handling 3.50 - tire fee 46 - registration 305.65 - sales tax 55 - documentation 60 - licensing Total is 4359.15 hahahahaha what a real BS deal

Unfortunately that's how most stealerships operate in Florida too. But you can bargain with (s)dealers for bottom dollar out the door price. Get a quote from one dealer then let others try to beat it. I've read that freight and handling charges are bogus because the stealership can still turn a profit without those charges. That's where prices can be negotiable. Bill

Its called a tire Levy and its basically an enviromental charge. You get it on any car and as well when you buy tires.
Went to my local honda dealership today to drop off parts for a workers personal car and they had one cbr sitting there. They are ugly! I didn't find them pleasing to the eyes at all.

ross, im sure it was so high because you called from across the country. freight and handling to ship it to nova is going to be high. the documentation licensing registration and sales tax will still be there... but thats not really paying the dealership thats paying the government. they have them sitting down there at their shop and they have been there for quite some time. it would be easy to get the frieght and handling taken off in person im sure

Basically the same thing. Except when they charge you up front, you might as well dispose of them properly since it would be free (since you already paid for it). Instead of making someone pay at disposal, then people decide to just toss them on the side of the road or in the bush to avoid paying the fees.

If I didn't already have (won) my Ninjette, I'd have gone with the Ciberette. Easier maintenance schedule, EFI, and higher MPG are nice to have.
However, there's zero chance I'll sell Zorak to buy one. The above points are not that dramatic. The Ninjette is a touch better in the performance department, and IMO also better in the styling area (plus it's GREEN). |

Tires are consumables, I know, but I paid an e-waste fee for my M11x notebook in CA that I now have in GA just like I paid a tire fee in CA that I had to pay for disposal in GA (double-taxed). That can't be legal. Even things that are considered consumables aren't always. If I get a collectable Coke can and add it to my display shelf, I have to pay a so-called "refund value" that can never be refunded without relinquishing my own property. |

RoHS (Pb-Free; Lead-free) initiatives have caused more electronics in landfills than anything else. At least they aren't full of lead anymore. Even limited to the scope of only video-gaming, massive quantities of PS3, 360, and PC GPU failures have all been attributed to it. The problem with the RoHS BGA GPUs was that they often took a whole laptop to the grave with them! |

could be thousands if it was in effect back then... if the rates were what they are today. but they wouldnt have been. because there wasnt as big of a waste problem back then. now theres all that waste from before there was any kind of tax (you may horde-- i mean collect game consoles, doesnt mean everyone else does) who paid for that? when random people dump **** in public dumpsters that has toxic waste (lead-- basically any electronics) who pays for it? the government. where does the government get money? taxes.

If you paid 5g for a TV you probably should not be complaining about "fees" that are around 1% of the cost of the item

Seems like there are definitely some factory incentives going around for the CBR250R:

The CBR250R is chronically sold out where I am in upstate NY. Kawasaki is missing the boat with the 250 class by not supplying enough Ninjas. My local dealer only gets 4 per year and the Honda dealer has sold 20.
