Handlebars

Got some bad news. The base of my left handlebar is bent and causes my suspension to be uneven. It is ever so slight but I still need to find a solution. I was planning on putting clip-ons on eventually so if I need to spend money to fix this I might as well start making some changes. My issue is that I don't know what to do about the top triple since it isn't a solid piece. Does someone make one that fits the pregens? Or is it something I have to have custom machined?

Also any suggestions for clip-ons and installation methods would be appreciated

Thanks

Sometimes you can bend the bar back into place using a vice and a pipe, but if you want it to be perfectly straight like it was in the factory you need to buy a new one.

No the triple is fine, it's just the rectangular piece of the handlebar bracket that is bent. I went and looked at some other threads (I know; i didn't search before I posted....blasphemy lol) and that helped a little but now I'm curious if the top part of the forks need to even be covered (or if so if it is possible just to buy a cover that would seal it) and just pulling my forks up through the triple a bit and throwing clip-on's below the top part of the triple

i would just go with the SV clip ons, if you need some cheap ones or replace the handlebar with a stock one.

Beware that clip-ons will create clearance issues. Chances are good you'll have to remove your plastics to use them and you will definitely lose turning radius. I would buy some Woodcraft lowered risers. They're about the only thing that will get you lower bars that will bolt right on with no issues. Otherwise you're going to have to get a bit creative.

That bracket does not hold the fork tube height in the triple. Pull both bars off amd use a ruler to leasure the unbent side fork tube protrusion then set the other side to match. to verify, measure from rim to fork both sides and make sure they're the same. Thr triple clamps need to be tight to hold the fork tubes in place.

I know that it doesn't but it does provide a fairly sealing cover to the open end of the forks. I could just simply move the forks where they are both flush to the top of the triple so I know they are even, but I'm worried about water or someething getting into my forks and snowballing into greater problems

The only way they could keep water out of the tops of the forks would be if you submerged the bike. I think you're overblowing this in your mind quite a lot, IMHO. Like I said, you can set your forks like I described above and you'll be fine. I wouldn't recommend moving the tubes down flush with the tree as that will change your fork geometry.

I just don't want to f*** anything up by having them exposed but if there is a consensus that it isn't a huge deal, I won't worry too much. Anyone know the factory spec on how much the top of the forks are above the triple?

P.S. Thanks for bein so helpful thus far FrugalNinja

Measure the depth of one of the risers, set forks to than. It is not a critical setting at all.

Update: Tried adjusting the forks to be of equal height 14mm above the top of the triple, but it doesnt solve my problem. Upon further observation I noticed that the top of my triple doesnt fall in line with my front tire. Does anyone know why this is? or what I can do to fix this?
