Lightbulb Gutting the stock exhaust

I saw a post with a picture of someone who gutted their stock exhaust for better sound/performance. Does anyone know how to do this? Is it a good mod if you don’t have the money to buy a new aftermarket exhaust? Are there any real performance gains? I haven’t done anything to my 250. I was thinking of removing the snorkel, shimming the carbs, and maybe trying this exhaust mod. Any help would be appreciated, thanks.

I have heard of people gutting the cans on a pre-gen but never on a new gen. From the youtube sound clips I have heard I would not recomend doing this, Makes your bike sound like a lawn mower. Go with a slip on or for a little more cash a full system.

That custom exhaust actualy sounded very good and at only $36 it's worth a try.
