Scorpion helmet
I have a black 250 and I can't decide which helmet I want. Either the chameleon black
or the matte black I'm also concerned about visibility at night but don't know if that'll be a big issue. Suggestions about other helmets are also welcome. my budget is around $200. Thanks! |

Lol
It will work fine at nite but black is black without some kind of reflective tape or stickers no one will see it.

Kevin... what shape is your head. One should select a helmet based on proper fit first.
If you don't know, perhaps you should do some studying on head shape before you purchase an ill fitting helmet. http://www.webbikeworld.com/motorcyc...met-shapes.htm |

The only thing I have to consider about the chameleon is the SCORPION logo in the front. The rest is wicked but I also have to agree that black is black. I've put black reflective tape around the rim of my helmet and that helps a little.

I have the scorpion exo400 Urban assault. I only got it because i was impatient to order it online and it was readily available at my local bike dealer, and it's a big plus that it matches my bike scheme.
THIS is the helmet i would've gotten, had I the patience. I think it looks great. I know it's not a scorpion, but it will match your bike during the day, and the LED's near the exhaust vents will provide good visibility at night since it has two lighting modes. comes in shiny or matte. And it's also in your price range Last futzed with by 8gauge; October 27th, 2010 at 12:27 AM. |

I love Scorpion Helmets .I had an Aria. It was great but to big. I could not afford a new helmet. SO Scorpion gave me a helmet. They are doing a lot to help privateers and grass roots motor sports.

Black helmets look the best by far. I'm sure you already understand this, but at the same time they are the least visible.
My first helmet was solid gloss black. Fine, whatevs. It was a cheap helmet and I decided to experiment, so I painted it white. The next day I happen to run across my GF while she was driving. She said she first noticed my helmet a quarter-mile back, in morning rush-hour traffic, in her rear-view mirror! From that day I was completely sold on white helmets. But, I do like white, heh. My jacket is white, my current helmet is of white base (has a design though), and I'm about to paint my bike white . *edit* And between the two, I'd go with the first one. I only like flat black helmets with flat-black bikes. Otherwise it's like wearing a rough leather hunting belt with glossy black dress shoes :P . |

i just ordered this helmet as the weight to it is damn good at the price point and i have quickly fallen in love with S&S gear.
I forgot to add that it is ECE 22.05 certified as well as dot so it has that going for it as well. Link to the specs on STG http://stores.sportbiketrackgear.com/Detail.bok?no=7479 |

Also don't get a black helmet if you have a black bike, I can only assume that your gear is black as well with all that black even with reflective tape and seems you are going to be as invisible as it gets. I noticed since switching from a black jacket to a white one I have way less cars pull out in front of me that is why I am getting the white one above.

I've got the Exo 700 White Chameleon and love it. Have had numerous compliments on the lid. The white is very visible nite/day. Complimented the chameleon effect with a mirrored green visor.. too cool! Like the black Exo Chameleon as well.... go get it

STG has Scorpion Exo-700 Helms on Sale ATM!
http://sportbiketrackgear2.homestead...00helmets.html
Exo-700's SALE $99.95 I have a Exo-400 Radium, Exo-700 Burst and a Bell Vortex! IMO, the 400 fit is good, but more for ROUND shaped heads (like me) the 700 fit is good, but it seems to be slightly more OVAL shaped for heads. So for me, being a ROUND head, the 400s fit just aboue Perfect for me, the 700s are good, but more towards people with OVAL shaped heads. |

I picked up the EXO-1000 a couple weeks ago and it's a very well made helmet. Fits me completely differently (and not as well) as my Bell Apex but it's relatively quiet and has all the bells and whistles. That also makes it heavy so I stick to my Bell when I'm going on a longer ride.

Something you may want to consider is decals or suction cups for a mohawk probably will not stick to a matte finish.

I have the scorpion EXO-400 Urban assault. Crash-proven, and saved my head. Minor concussion.
I don't really like how the intake vents are microscopic on the 400. The exhaust vents/spoiler flew right off on impact as it was just held on by sticky tape. Eventually you'll get used to the venting with enough wear of the helmet, But I would recommend the EXO-700. My girlfriend has a 700 and it's obviously night and day between the ventilation of the 400 and 700 series (even the exhaust vets and spoiler quality) I'd be sweating bullets with the 400 with only a mohawk underneath and she wouldn't have a drop of sweat even with long hair. other than that, I recommend scorpion to anyone looking for a solid helmet.

Scorpion Helmets et. al.
I wear an old Nolan N102. It has the sunshade. I am now looking at the HJC IS-series lids with the sunshield. Beats wearing sunglasses. The HJC is under $190 bucks.
