Merrigali and Jarvis wait outside the medical centre for news after Lorenzo's crash


JORGE Lorenzo has broken his collarbone after a crash in Free Practice 2 at Assen.

Lorenzo crashed out of the wet session following a highside at the rapid Hoge Heide section running up to Ramshoek, which precedes the Geert Timmer chicane at the end of the lap. The Mallorcan was taken to the circuit Medical Centre and provided with painkillers.

Lorenzo was caught out by standing water before landing heavily on his left shoulder. The fractured collarbone was confirmed just under ten minutes after the session ended. He will now remain under observation in an Assen hospital for 12 hours and a CT scan will be carried out.

His management have said that he will fly to Barcelona tonight in order to have an operation on his left collarbone.
