Bought Some Leathers -now with photos

Picked up a set of Frank Thomas XTi II one piece leathers today at Cycle Gear, on sale for $299. Couldn't pass it up. They fit good for off the rack. The XTi II leathers seem much better quality then the old XTi kit. Supple 1.2mm/1.4mm leather, triple stitching, and CE armor. Now I need to pick up a decent back/chest protector an maybe some Bohn shorts.

Some people bag on F.T. gear but when I went to Miller Motorsports Park for the vintage bike races I saw at least 3 riders wearing well used F.T. leathers.

I plan on wearing them for canyon runs and hopfully the track next spring. I might commute in them once or twice just to freak out my officemates.

Nice! Definitely wear your suit a few times on regular rides to break it in before the twisties. Looks great!

Thanks, for the positive comments. I'll post up photos of the suit when I get a chance. I was going to go all black but I figured the black white colors offered a bit more visibility for any street riding.

Allyson, did you pre-treat your leathers with anything to help break them in?

I like the black and white combo! I really wanted a mostly white suit, but then I'd have to clean it too often. lol!
Mine is a 2-piece which makes using the bathroom easier. hehe!
To answer your question, I did not treat mine with anything, however, it did take a few rides to get it stretched out and fitting in every spot nicely. It didn't hurt anywhere during the first couple of rides, but it felt stiff in places. After 3 long rides and some moving around in them, they wore perfectly.
I was really worried when it poured rain on us during one of our mt trips (no, no rain gear. ). I was sloshing around, soaking wet in my leathers, but they went on fine the next time I used them.
What about the rest of you all? Do you treat your leathers?

This forum is such a terrible influence

Went to cycle gear to check out their sales. They had a couple of dainese jackets for about $250, but none left in my size They had a mostly white dainese jacket, but i actually didnt like how all white looks on. I ended up getting the same exact jacket I have in mesh, but now in perforated leather.

About $180 so not bad for a leather jacket. The matching pants (all black) are about $110 so you can get a 2-piece for around the same price.

Ally, they had some black/white women's a*'s that looked really good too. Frank Thomas and a*'s are an extra 25% off, clearance is an extra 20% off and everything else is 10% off so definitely worth checking out. Sale ends today.

Thanks Cuong. Our Cycle Gear is a long way from us, near Atlanta, so I wasn't able to make it out there. Glad you got some good stuff though!

Pictures on bike

Finally took a ride in the leathers and they were comfortable for not being broken in. The knee armor needs to mold to my knee but I'm sure a few rides will take care of that. They flow a nice amount of air. It was in the 50s when I rode and I was getting a little cool. So far so good.

A couple of photos of me on the bike.

Going to look at a set of these tomorrow - they are holding an all black set for me. Really like the black/white set you got, but they don't have one in my size. Good to hear about the air flow - being in Central Texas.

Guess all I will need is an all black helmet and I might think I'm "GhostRider" and start hitting the highways at top speed. All black and a black bike might make night riding a bit more dangerous.

Really just want a set for any track day that may come about in my future.
