Tire options
I went across town last weekend to acquire a new front tire (Sport Demon), but they didn't have ANY in stock, and this particular tire was on backorder from the manufacturer. Dealer said they typically only sell OEM tires to 250r riders, and hadn't actually heard of the Sport Demon until I told him about it and he looked them up. I wasn't supposed to see, but I saw on his screen that HIS cost was $113 for a front (in case anyone wondered).
Anyways, it looks like I will have to order a tire regardless of which one I get, so I am wondering what are the options for the 250r (dealer mostly new bigger bikes, of course)? The ones I know about thus far are the Sport Demon (of course), and the OEM ones..... any others (for street, not track specific)? |

Bob.. I order mine from motorcyclesupertore.com when I need the Sp. Demons. They are always on sale, no sales tax, free shipping and delivered to my door. I take them to my "dealers service dept" and they put them on for, of course a fee, but at least I get what I want in about a weeks time. I"ve always used this method and have never been disappointed. Motorcyclesuperstore will also ship them direct to your preferred installer's location, they arrive there and you arrange for the installation date. I prefer mine in my hands just so I know they've arrived when their expected to arrive. I just checked and they have them in stock and ready for shipping...

I still am a fan of the BT-45's for aggressive street, particularly for a lightweight, like my 250R. Handles significant rain, wears well without cupping up front, and is confidence inspiring at speed. Good front tire profile so that even at maximum lean, you are still 1/4" + from the edge. At stock pressures, they signal loss of traction very clearly and linearly. If you drop the pressure to 26 psi, the grip will increase to a level I find rarely needed on the street even when playing racer but the downside is loss of traction will be more abrupt and with less warning.

I'm surprised the BT45s scored so much better than the sport demons.... I thought the SDs were the "it" tire for the 250r.
Since I have a SD on the rear, isn't it best to match them, or does it matter? |

I'd take that review with a grain of salt; the class-leading Avons in that test turned out to be the worst tires Vex has had on a bike, so while any information can be helpful, all information isn't necessarily accurate for all purposes.

And it looks like I will have it delivered by tomorrow
My tires are feeling less-than-planted this week, but I think most of that is because the air temp in the am has been cooler, so my tire pressure was lower than it needed to be. I check my psi every Thursday (reocurring Outlook appointment), but I checked it earlier this week when it didn't feel right. I rectified that before leaving for work today and felt a little more secure..... well, then there is also the part about getting ready to be replaced too - I'm sure that has something to do with it too. |

Was there a post removed here? I got an email update, but it is nowhere to be found...
Edit: Never mind, I just figured it out. Post was moved to pre-gen. BTW: My SD came today Unfortunately it will be another week before I can get it mounted. |
