My Mom lives about a 7 or 8 hours drive away, so it's hard to visit on a regular weekend. She's into gardening, so I always get the local florist to deliver a hanging basket with live plants. Instead of wilting and dying within a few days, quite often the basket lasts all season.

I might be the oddball here, but I love good candid pictures in a semi nice frame. That way i can see the real personalties, it helps when they live far away.

I think the best gift a mother can get is to have her children visit her and spend time with her. Mine lives 2,000 miles away so I send flowers and giver her a call.

I've just finished building a walled, two-tiered, rock walled garden in the corner of the yard and this afternoon I'm planting a white-flowering dogwood tree in it. She's wanted a white-flowering dogwood for years, so this ought'a shut her up.
