Mentions buggy?

Hey Alex I noticed that mentions aren't showing up in plain text in the posts. Maybe this is something that was always happening and I just noticed now.

http://www.ninjette.org/forums/showthread.php?t=126372

In the first post I mentioned Trailerboy but when I read the text it shows up like this:

------------------------------------------
Courtesy of I have a used modmy250 relay looking for a home.

Ninja 250R 2008-2011 Electronic Flasher Relay
http://www.modmy250.com/LP.html
------------------------------------------

If I hit quote or reply I see the person that is mentioned though.

I'm not sure I see the issue. I've looked at your original post there, and copied the mention. @rPanda

Hey Alex

Image 1 is the original link - http://www.ninjette.org/forums/showthread.php?t=126372

Image 2 is the link - http://www.ninjette.org/forums/showp...&postcount=204

I use FF normally and I just checked on IE, Safari, and Chrome and I see the same thing. If you don't see it maybe it's something odd with my account or a setting I changed?

I think I'm slow today. I still don't see the problem. In the first image, there is no longer any mention. It was edited and removed by rPanda. In the second image, there is as mention for Rollin that appears to be working fine.

What is it about the mentions that aren't working?

Oh - I see what you mean now. You still have a mention in there, but it doesn't appear to be showing up. Hmmm....

Oh, crap. I realized what happened. This isn't anyone's fault but mine. All of the mentions have been blanked that way due to me rebuilding the post cache, trying to fix something else.

All of the code is still there, so people still get emails for their mentions, but it looks like they aren't there any more until someone opens the post and saves it.

It's an annoying limitation of the way the mention mod works. When a post is save, with the mention code in it, it replaces it as it is saved with the link to the username, and gets saved in the post cache that way. But - if you just recalculate all of the post caches at once, it doesn't have the trigger to replace the username with the link, so it appears blank.

My bad.

Cool, thanks for looking at it. When you originally couldn't see it I thought it was just me.

Ah so this isn't new. Just noticed this on the Koso thread since one of the names was missed from the list. Post #49 if interested.
