Caps, you are a grade "A" idiot.

You couldn't pay me enough to climb on a deathtrap like that.

For everyone else who is currently in the dark, he drove from Orlando to Tampa today and drove my bike a whopping 200 feet

It's a common improper paradigm among sport bike riders. If you have ever seen a 14 or busa in person you would understand where the general thought process started since they are CONSIDERABLY longer/larger then most sport bikes. But they are surprisingly nimble/agile for such a large two-wheeled vehicle.

They do however require a certain... Finesse (manhandling) to get them to lean as far as most sport bikes are pushed in similar situations.

Let's put this in context, however...

I was working, and picking up equipment (in a company truck, on the clock) from a location just under 7 miles away... and I had a tire for caps. And I had no gear with me... So yeah, just a quick ride up and down his driveway. I'm not going for a 45 minute ride on your 200 hp deathcycle-14 all squid-ed up.

I would have gone over 15 MPH, but one of your neighbors was walking his dog, and the dog was already wigging out.

For what it's worth, Ninjette riders, at 10 MPH the ZX-14 is heavy, but well balanced enough that it felt very comfortable maneuvering around tight areas. Even for a 5'7" guy like me, the bike was low enough to easily handle, and the riding position, while a little less upright than a 250, was nowhere near as cramped as a ZX-6r. It's not really my style, but it's still a pretty nice bike. It would be a fun bike, but I would be more likely to climb onto my ER, just because it's more comfortable for the riding I do.

I've had the pleasure of riding both the 2011 and the 2012 at Kawasaki's "Ticket to Ride" event and the International Motorcycle Show in Longbeach... it's what made me fall in love with them!!! It's everything that I want and need in a bike... trust me... I'm sold

Although the ZX-10R would be awesome on the track... it doesn't fill my real world needs. It's just not as comfortable as the 14 and to an old guy like me that's pretty important

And a 100shot of nitrous.... It actually caught me by surprise, I gave it a *bit* of gas and there was some fine sand in the road. It actually broke loose at around 7K rpm.

This is why people shouldn't start on super sports. If I would have upgraded when I told you I was ready I would have ran this thing into a lake by now.

Saw a lady (looks to be in her middle 40s) riding one of these with a bad ass side car attached. Was a nice navy blue paint job, I was drooling at it stopped at the stop light. Wish I could have taken a pic but I would look ridiculous trying to whip out my cell and catch a pic on my bike.

Nice bike though...tooooo big and too powerful for me.

zx14 guy was nice though. he wasn't gunning on straights just to block you on turns. he was letting people pass on straights and riding at his own speed. kudos!

Money is pretty tight with all the racking up medical bills, but I'm slowly making progress. Foe those of you who have never ridden with me this is what it USED to look like;

and this is what I'm working with now;

I've ordered all of the parts I need to at least start it. Hopefully they will arrive by this coming weekend and I will be able to see if I need to put this off for a while (If I have engine problems), or if I can keep going one piece at a time. The first thing I did was pick up a full OEM exhaust since my headers were tweaked and I found a full system on craigslist for DIRT cheap. It is off a 2010 which has a different header then the 06/07 mine had. So first thing I had to do was cut open the new header to remove the catalytic converter that mine didn't have.

Now that is sitting at Burkette's house curing for the next day or two. So when the new (i <3 salvage yards) lower radiator hose comes in I will pick the header up. Then all I have to do to see if it cranks is;
  • Paint the header
  • Mount the new header
  • Mount the OEM slip ons
  • Mount the radiator
  • Install the radiator plumping
  • Pray
  • Attempt to start it

I also REALLY don't want to paint this thing (I hate painting, and I can't imagine it being easy with all the curves), so I have been playing around with a couple ideas;

But nothing is set in stone yet. I also picked up a TON of OEM plastics, so I have a second set of almost every fairing, and triples of the tail.

Along with juggling my extra work, painting the bike, installing parts as they come in, and the Justin Ride I haven't had a ton of time lately. And I go riding on any free time I can muster. But I brought some pictures as a peace offering to you mofo's in hopes that some of you may start showing some interest in this thread again (besides Jayson and Tommy <3 you guys).

So as most of you who are on my facebook (Sorry Tommy, it's always a couple days ahead of this thread) already know I have been painting my rims as well. The rear is done and has already been abused, the front won't get worked on till after the Justin Ride on Sunday.

This is the OEM bronze-ish color that they only made on the 06 (yes I felt kind of bad about painting them, no not enough to buy another set).

This is after 2 light coats iirc

And this is the final color at night.

This is the final color in direct sunlight (SUPER gold)

I cleared and mounted it so that I can sand it down in a week or two to the desired gloss. Right now it's really Matte, I think I want it a little glossier, but not to much.

The front on the other hand I wanted a high gloss

Here you can see the OEM color in the front, and the painted in the rear
