Engine Swap help

So ive decided it will be easier to swap a running engine into my 07 250 rather than fix the multiple issues my engine has. so the issue ive ran into so far is the price of the 86-07 ninja engines is close to the same as the 08-12 about 50 to 100 dollar difference with the exception that the 08-12 i can find with 10k+ less miles. After doing research i know that it is pretty much a plug and play maybe with slight alteration, and i know i need new pipes, but i want to see what else id have to switch out, suck had the igniter, coils, plug wires, fuse box. any info would be much appreciated.

I think there are a handful of threads here that might address this. Here's one:

@Racer x has done some of these swaps, IIRC.

Unless you enjoy a challenge and like problem solving and fabricating, you are way ahead by using the same gen engine.

You can swap in a new gen engine, but I don't think any advantages outweigh the hassles.

The pre-gen engine was also more powerful above 9000rpms and bike did 0-60 and 1/4-mile runs faster than new-gen model.

Don't worry about difference in mileage, you should replace rings and bearings anyway since you've got it out of the bike. Doesn't take much effort and you'll have rebuilt engine with 0-miles to install.
