bigger rims
i searched and found alot on wider tires for our bikes and tires that you guys like what i couldnt find was something on actually getting a slightly wider rear rim for the bike for the wider tire to seat properly. any links or info is greatly appreciated.
im looking for an asthetic reason to do this. if i lose a tiny bit of power for having to turn a heavier rim i'll make adjustments with sprockets in the future but for now just lookin to do the proper way of upgrading rear tires. without squeezing them onto the stock rim. i was thinking along the lines of a ninja 500 or 600 rear rim. two differetn rimes doesnt bother me seeing that i like cars with two different sets of rims on them why not the bike lol

Need to measure and see if there is room between the sides of the swingarm, I doubt you'll get 250 or 300 mm wide tire to clear the swingarm. Same goes for the front as you need wider fork spacing to fit the wider front tires.

I think the widest tire you can fit on the stock swingarm is a 150 - only 2 cm wider than stock.

I've only seen anything like that done if you replace the swingarm. There's a thread around here somewhere about a 2fiddy with an R6 swingarm and rear wheel. You might look into that.

Tim did a swingarm mod and put I think a 180 on it - you might check with him

The problem with going wider is that you add weight and lose the "Flickability" that makes this bike such a terror in the twisties.

here it is. he only went up to a 150 tire. the cool thing is that the design is basically the same, so it will look stock.

Nice but that break mount is scary, think I would find another way. I would also go with two new bearings with the proper ID and OD to fit, the bushing is probably fine but I think I would rather have the new bearings.

Ive done a few swap's and changes on my Bike...
FYI Biggest Tire you can fit on the stock 250R wheel & stock swingarm is a 160/60/17.. Its a Tight fit but will work... I currently have a modded stock swingarm(made it 1'' wider) and 650R rear wheel.. its a 4.5" wide wheel .. Im running a 180/55/17 tire. But im changing to a 5" wide 05-636 wheel in the Next couple weeks to better fit the 180 tire.. Pm me if you need any info.. Btw the 08-09 250R, 650R,636 & zx10 have the same wheel Look/design for a couple years..
