Intake Camshaft

I need a intake camshaft for a new gen 2009.

Guessing that will be hard to find, so if anyone has any suggestions on replacing, speak up.

Well there you go.

Might I ask how you managed that?

a mixture of being clumsy and removing it across the bike? not sure.......is it possible for it to hve cracked while running?

Cant find the piece which worries me more then buying the part.

i stuck a magnet down the cam chain area, not sure if i should tear it all down since im going to have a couple weeks...turned the engine over manually, didnt hear anything unusual.

would that be enough to know if i have a piece down in my cam chain area?

Probably 99% of cam failures are due to flaws in manufacturing.

If you thoroughly checked the area with the magnet it should be ok. You might want to tear it down just to be sure. Because if there are any pieces in there, the next time you run the motor, you are going to end up with a massive headache.

Yeah, that's a pretty expensive part. It's still not as bad as OEM plastics. The 2011 SE left lower faring (the one I need) is $420 =(

No, I've never been that far down in the engine. I'm in the middle of a valve adjustment at the moment. This is the furthest I've ever been into this engine.

thats painful.

thats what I was doing. last adjustment i ended up taking out the stock airbox.

now its cams.

i cringe when i need to do valves. I always manage to extend the process.

Well luckily there's an excellent video tutorial that @ninja250 did that's helping me out A LOT for this first time. I'm sure next time will be a breeze. But I'm about 4 hours into it right now. Let's hope I don't have any major issues like that.
