Going to Laguna Seca tomorrow (10/06/2010)

Anyone want to ride the Corkscrew with me? I'll be bringing at least one of my 250s to ride.

Last time I looked there was still space available.

You guys missed out on a great day. I brought my GSXR750 and wifes 250 in case I needed to give someone a ride. I did over 160 miles on the 250 plus 3 20 minute sessions on the 750. We had a little rain mid-day and most everyone packed up and left. We went to an open track and the track dried out. I ran the last hour non-stop with about 5 other bikes on a dry beautiful track.

Turn 2:

Nice pics! How is it taking the corkscrew on a bike? I know in a car its a pretty challenging turn and the dip down can make you lose traction if you don't prep the turns right.

The first time down the Corkscrew the drop is quite exciting. Once you are used to the blind entrance and where you need to be it looses its excitement. Then you try and get through the Corkscrew quickly and the challenge begins. This is one series of turns that is almost impossible to get right and they will bite you in the ass if you make an error.

love the pic at rainey corner! The lean angles and traction you get at that corner are amazing... but the sight of that wall to the outside always seems to put the fear into me!

How was the 250 going up the hill to the corkscrew peak? Pretty much pegged top of 5th?

The 250 doesn't like the steep hill from turn 6 up to turn 7. I go through turn six pinned at redline. When I exit 6 the revs are down to about 13,000rpm. I think I'm in 4th gear. (Taller than stock gearing.) The bike will quickly pull to redline but if I up-shift the revs drop to 11,000rpm and won't pull. So I have the choice of running it up the hill screaming in 4th gear or lug it up in 5th. Most of the time I chose to shift to the higher gear as it felt like I might be gaining a few revs on the way up.

Big bike pass me like I'm standing still going up the hill but most of the time I would catch up to them as they park it for the entrance to the Corkscrew.
