2009 250r engine replacement
I got a 2009 with what seems to be a seized engine (can't get it to turn at all from the flywheel bolt even after letting some penetrating oil sit in the cylinders) for a pretty cheap price. Planning on getting an engine from ebay (seem to be in the $4-500 range).
After searching, I can't seem to find any good info on doing the engine replacement. I think it's pretty straightforward though. I'm pretty good mechanically and I don't think I'll have too much trouble, but if anyone has a good resource for this, it would be helpful. So far, I've got the bike naked, disconnected the exhaust, disconnected radiator hosing, removed shifter, got the sprocket bolt loose, and disconnected all of the random plugs and wires. Pretty much all I have left is to disconnect the carbs. To do that I just need to pull the engine away from the 2 rubber necks when I go to take the bolts out and drop the engine, right? Also, the engine/transmission is basically one unit, right? So when I order the new engine, I just put the starter on it, put it in, connect everything back up, put fluids in, and it should be good to go? Thanks, guys! |

It's kinda that easy, but taking like you have a handle on it. Yes, you'll need to disconnect the carbs from the rubber boots that go to airbox. Chances are your replacement engine won't have the boots or carbs.
Transmission and engine are all attached as one.

Haha, nah, no plans to do anything fancy. Just plan to sell it once I get it alive again and clean up a couple of little cosmetic things like broken turn signal, scraped bar end, and scraped exhaust shield piece thing.

No ninjette for now. I don't have any other bikes currently. Had a Ducati last year and sold that. Just have my DD e36 BMW for now. Trying to gather some money to get a nice 600 Kawi or Honda or import a JDM car.

I hope to see you linger around then Obviously the 600 Kawi is the fastest bike out of the ones you mentioned, especially if it's in Kawi Green

Speaking of Kawi green, we do have something pretty cool in the garage. My roommate's 800cc Kawi standup jet ski, it's a ton of fun. It's super-ultra-fast racing green, of course.

That sucks, I just sold my extra 09 engine laying around the storage for $250.Pretty cheap, it had around 6k on it but was working well when it was removed. I just needed some space bad to store other stuff.
