Scotts Hugger and spools

Well I installed my Scotts hugger today, really painless and so easy a caveman could do it.. I really like it because it is simple, understated and matches the chaingaurd almost exactly in color. I got the matte black one for under $100 shipped, I just could't justify over $150 for the other ones and I don't like that they cover up everything. Also my spools for my stands came in at the dealership today, you would think that they would be super easy to install, I got the right one on in 30 seconds and went to put the left one on and wouldn't thread in. Well I had to go and tap out the threads just to make it work the threads were messed up from either the weld or black paint/powdercoat from the factory..wtf doesnt kawasaki check this stuff. I know the bike is built to a budget but damn messed up threads! Heres some pics of the hugger:

Looks nice! Thanks for posting detailed pictures. I'm thinking about one of these too, but probably going to wait until he makes one that can fit a bigger tire. Thanks again for the pictures.

The hugger will definatly fit a 140 tire probably a 150 too. I plan on getting a 140 when I need a new tire

Scott's hugger looks much better in matte black. I know you wanted an understated hugger, but other than that, why wouldn't you want to cover up the wimpy swingarm? If the bike is meant to look like it's larger sport cousins, it only makes sense to go all the way! Take a look at the Aprillia RS125. It looks great with its moulded swingarm. The skinny blocky rectangular look just doesn't do it for me and is almost the primary reason I want a hugger. I know this doesn't apply to you but I think that a colored hugger would only serve to draw more attention to the wimpy swingarm!

I just installed mine last night. I love it!!. I got the carbon fiber, it did go very well, I also had a problem with the spools. I think that you are right, they are made on a budget, but man!! it took a lot to get them in. Lastly, does anyone have a bigger tire ( 140, 150) with this hugger? Pics will be great.

I don't have a set of taps but I had read that many people had issues getting them to thread so I expected problems. Luckily, they went right on.

The reason I don't like the ones that wrap everything is ease of maintence, If I want to clean my chain or adjust it, take the wheel off ect its easyier with the scotts vs the other ones, plus if I wanted the rear to look like the 600 I would have bought the 600

Dan... I've had mine for over a year and its held up very well. Only thing is the double sided tape sucks if it gets sloppy underneath (rain, dirt) and comes loose. I attempted another 3M double sided tape and it too was cruddy within 5 months. I then went to the industrial velcro and that has held up very well and shows no signs of letting go at all.. keep it in mind if your tape cruds out in a few months This hugger is great when it comes around to maintaining the chain ,etc. Easy on, easy off. When cleaning I use Armor All to keep it nice and black.

I plan on switching out to velcro over the winter when I tear the body parts off to clean it all down. It came with the double sided tape on already and I wanted to get it on so didn't switch it out.
