I do occasionally. I will tonight. Maybe once a week on average but I plan on going at least 3 times a week eventually.

Mass doesn't come quickly. Don't waste your time with supplements. They're just meal replacements. Food comes first.

Deadlifts.

Me too.

Far from it. );

Swimming will greatly enlarge your trapezoid muscles. I do yoga here and there, so I'm no help... :/

Swimming is an insanely good workout. Everyone seems to think it's the easiest sport out there but you never really get the sense of just how difficult it is until you swim competitively. It's way harder than football IMO and you can burn up to 1000 calories in a good swimming workout. Of course, that also has to be coupled with dry land training and eating right. You'll lose weight and get fit like crazy!

i don't know if this is complete bullshit, but doesn't riding a motorcycle burn more calories? obviously not a significant amount but more than driving a car. i think because of the adrenaline or something?

and +1 to swimming. probably the greatest cardio you can do. resistance + cardio = good. i wish i had a pool cuz i'd do laps every day and i'd be able to eat like a pig.

I have good results using Jack3d as a pre w/o sup, and I switch between Dymatize Elite XT and ON Gold Standard shakes for post w/o. Eat complex carbs and some lean protein 1.5 hours before working out for energy.

Are traps that important? Shoulder shrugs with a barbell I guess. But you should let them develop naturally with a well rounded workout, otherwise you'll just look like a superdouche if you have skinny arms and legs, no lats and huge traps...

I'm not a fan of shrugs for traps... or for anything at all lol... I hugely advocate deadlifts, especially with a trap bar if you have one b/c it's easier on your lower back. Look at what Johnnie Jackson has to say about building his traps. it's pretty enlightening.

Like someone else said, don't waste too much money on supps. IMO after years of experience and trying many different products, 99.9%=total waste of money. I like to have a good creatine, a simple whey-based protein, and calcium, and that's generally about it.

I'm in the minority here; I think supplements can do a lot for you. But they only can do a lot for you if you already have a good base to work on. I played football my whole pre-college life, and my weightlifting coach once made a lazy kid look stupid for asking about supplements. The kid asked for supplement advice, and my coach told him that supplements "are for people who are here (puts hand at chest level) and want to get to here (puts hand at head level), not for people who are here (puts hand at ground level) and want to get here (puts hand at waist level)." So take that into consideration.

Also, when it comes to protein, for the most part, most whey protein will do the same, be it a $40 tub or a $10 tub. What you are paying for is the taste. (P.S.- Syntha6 strawberry is reallll good)

So basically, build a good base, then go from there.

I work out 5 days a week for around 45 minutes each day. I generally do around 20 minutes of cardio to warm up, 20 minutes of weight training for my designated body part of the day, and 5 minutes or so of stretching. I'm pretty happy with my level of toning and flexibility as a result, and I've more than doubled my weights all around since I started last year, but I'm feeling a bit stuck on the weight levels I'm currently at, and I still feel like I should probably try to get more cardio in. I don't mind working out in maintenance mode, but I kind of miss that more fast, obvious, and in your face improvement from when I first started and still had a lot more to fix :/

But that said, I'm still small and wimpy, and I have still yet to dabble in any sort of supplements, so I'm not very helpful anyways. If you're putting the work in though, I imagine researching the right diet is going to be one of the biggest factors for any work out goal.

I disagree. There is a huge difference between some whey protein powders if you look at the ingredients and how they were processed. And some will have lactase and protease included which is a plus for me.

I use Gaspari Myofusion.

4 Words. HIIT - High Intensity Interval Training. read about it.

Your goal is to get strong 1st, gain muscle memory, (Good base. Big muscles w/o strength is useless )

Develop a good core. Like I said you need a good base. We all know that it's the "abs" that get the girls anyway hehe (Don't do sit ups! try doing planks and it's other varieties instead )

I suggest not doing a straight 5 day work out routine. if you're just starting and don't know what you're doing don't, there's a big difference between overtraining and proper training. If you're gonna do the same thing for 5 days then you won't achieve results. One of your goal is to confuse your muscles so you won't hit a "plateau".

You have to know your goal. Is it to gain weight? or to lose weight? they say you have to focus on what you want to achieve. It's not effective to lose weight and get BIG at the same time. Focus, know what you want and setup a proper plan to achieve it.

I used to work out, even doing the P90X, which is a b*tch, btw. I went from 139 lbs to 150 lbs. It felt nice!

Then I got hit by a car... I haven't lifted weights since then.
I'm now down to 136 lbs. It feels bad.

I plan on working out again, but Idk when, to be honest. I work 12 hours a day, so making time for lifting weights isn't easy.
I think I'll just starting bringing a couple of dumbbells with me to work & doing various exercises with them.

I work out and weight train a lot. Pull-ups, shrugs, and up-right cable rows are great for working the top traps.

LOL! Pics of me are everywhere on the site.

I don't take pics of me at the gym b/c my focus is to work out, not get pics taken, but since you asked, here are a few pics that show the results of hard-core working out.

Well I'm already ripped as ****, the thing is I only weight 143 and about 5'8 so I'm not some scrony kid who just wants traps,
IMO they look sick and yeah =p

I work out all, i'm not the guy who says "i want bigger pecks so i work only pecks' no worries! I do back, triceps, biceps, pecks, shoulders, all all all!

The mass gain is the hardest part, I eat very healthy and am fit. But going to the gym every every every single day for the past 2 months has only gained me 10 lbs of muscle... =[

being a hard gainer sucks ...i understand...but for your orig question, DL's, rack pulls, shrugs should do the trick...im sure you already do these exercises...sometimes it comes down to one's genes....

edit: i too cant seem to really build height on my traps. width and strength, yes...height...not so much...but i do think it looks symmetrical with my body so, i learned to just accept it as is and focus on other, more important needed things

I answered most in my reply post at bottom.
But I've been working out for years.. ever since a kid really; doing karate for about 6 years from the age of 5/6 so the strength has developed over the years. I worked out between 12-14 then 15-17 with minor gaps /insuffiecient workout schedule, but it was there. Now I've been going 2 months every single day, but results are minimal IMO. I been taking as many calories and protein as I can, but I don't use the shakes/powders as meal replacements...but more of a 2nd meal after my first healthy 1!

I have a pair of 20 lb dumbbells at home I use maybe once a week on average. Wish I could go to the gym more often but I stopped ever since I got acid reflux and feel like sh*t entirely.

Well there's your problem.

I bet you'd make more gains if you went to the gym 3 times a week instead of every single day. Your body needs off days.

I do running (a 5 mile run 1 to 3 times a week), yoga and lots of cycling.

In the past I've done swimming 5 mornings a week, mountain biking and martial arts. I trained for and ran a half-marathon once. I might train for a full marathon at some point.

That's all my working out.
