250 / 300 test ride - far west Chicago burbs?

Hi all. Just checked in at new members. Would love to get a chance to hop on a 250 / 300 for a short ride. I love the pricing out there for used 250s and some left over 300s. But, as most people, concerned the motor simply won't be "enough" for my tastes. I live just west of St Charles / Geneva.

I am 52 years old. Ridden my whole life. Have ample insurance and if I drop it, I bought it. Why curious? Current bike is a C14. Great for two up, sport touring the country, and sport riding the hills in WI. Looking to add a second, lighter one up bike. Don't want to spend the $ on a new street triple or z900RS. If I can hang with the 250 / 300 for a summer or two of fun, and gear up for a future purchase. Will be happy to donate some craft beer to your fridge or whatever you prefer.

Here is a blog I kept that was pretty cool before photobucket killed picture hosting. http://leroylanes.blogspot.com/

It's a long shot, but maybe someone near hasn't put it up for the winter yet....

Hello A, it's good to meet you. Interestingly, A is also the name of one of our other members.

I'm a couple weeks from 60, and I really enjoy my '05 250. I have bigger bikes too, but often choose the little Ninja. When I'm riding it, power is not an issue. My daughter really enjoys riding it too.

I hear you Jim. That's what has had me long curious. Looking at your location though, I have a feeling you don't have quite as far to go to get to good roads!!!

Right, not far... pretty much as soon as I'm out of my garage. The farther west I go, the more it improves from there. This one is not far from home:
