Story Line to come eventually. Obviously some road rage and the cager couldn't regain control from trying to run the rider over.

Two stupids collide, we've all seen it before.

But damn that was a cool looking crash. Hope everyone was okay.

Wow! It looks like it all started when the guy on the bike kicked the car which caused the driver to panic and swerve.

I'm not sure it was a "panic" swerve. I know this freeway, it's the 14, and it's an insane road even on a good day. Everybody is manic to be going as fast as they possibly can. They tailgate. They make unsafe passes. You name it.

I want to know the rest of the story. What did the driver do? Why did this person turn on their video camera?

History or not, the people in the that white pickup truck were total innocence, just going down the road and then bam.

Some news stories about it:

http://www.latimes.com/local/lanow/l...622-story.html

I saw a thread on reddit earlier. Evidently they started recording because the motorcyclist was first on the other side of the car, they were kicking and screaming at eachother. Then the motorcyclist went to the other side of the car, and the video shows what happened next. I think @MrAtom has it about right.

It's awful that the people in the white SUV got hit. You're right, they did nothing to deserve it. One more reminder to *always* be watching, all over. And even then you sometimes need a dose of luck.

^^^ add that to the list of charges for the car driver. Probably facing some attempted manslaughter for swerving at the bike, as well as some liability for that white truck.

both persons are going to get some charges, methinks. The biker definitely has some blame here too, might get hit with some of the liability for the white truck. Plus, apparently he fled from the scene of an accident.

If car driver was just going slow in carpool lane, then I think that motorcyclist has most of blame. There's plenty of room to get around that car in centre lane. Motorcycle could've just pass car and gone on his merry way. Instead, he chose to escalate matters by kicking car.

That road IS crazy! I used to come back from Willow Springs Raceway often on it and people are just insane on 2-lane section through mountains. They'd tailgate to point of bumping, pass each other on shoulder, or even swerve into shoulder to block someone from getting by! Madness!!

I gave up going that way and took a slower way home just to avoid it.

Reportedly, the car swerved over and nearly ran into the bike, which set off the whole mess. Bike and car yelled at each other, then this.

Police are looking for the rider for hit and run. Driver of the white vehicle that rolled was injured but will likely recover.

It's possible this rider was trying to kick the mirror off.

I watch motorcycle crash-vid compilations on youtube and I've noticed that there are a fair few riders out their that like to get revenge against drivers that have done something wrong by kicking or punching their mirrors off. I wish this wasn't a thing. Yeah; sometimes drivers do some crazy/stupid things which endanger bikers and other road users, but damaging their property doesn't improve the situation and in this specific case it led to the driver raging and ultimately taking-out an innocent driver.

I rarely confront drivers about their poor driving; I only do it if they come to a stop and I sense its safe for me to stop alongside them and speak. 99% of the time I just immediately put distance between myself and the driver and keep my focus on my ride. Ultimately I'm not responsible for their dangerous driving and confronting them is unlikely to change their behaviour for the better.

Yeah, aggression towards a driver isn't going to make anything any better but can absolutely send it down the hole.

In the 70's I happened to ride ONCE with an acquaintance, (friend of a friend) who, during a ride... kicked a car door. The "why" is irrelevant.

I *immediately* exited the ride....purposely leaving the scene, never saw the guy again.

I want *no part* of violent, aggressive, dangerous ILLEGAL actions.

Nope. I don't, either. It's one reason I like the group we ride with- they don't have much patience for hooliganism or aggression.
