pick up/stator coil resistance?

Hey everyone, this is my first time posting here. I have a 2001kawasaki ninja 250 that i recently bought locally. The seller said the only thing that was wrong was he broke the key off in the gas tank, so i was unable to start or test ride at that time. For the $170 i paid i figured, why not? So i bought anew ignition installed it charged the battery, cleaned the carbs and tank, hit the start button and she turned over But wouldn't start. I have no spark... I checked the safety switches, stand switch, lever switch etc. I tested the ignition coils, plugs wires and they seem good. I Tested the pickup/stator coil and get 127 ohms of resistance. Is this within specs? I cant seem to find this information online. If this is, i guess ill be changing the cdi/ecu box. Any information or suggestions would be greatly appreciated! Thanks

Welcome, Mike!

Do a search of the forum for the term "100 ohm" or ""100 ohm resistor". You'll find several threads about it. Your solution may be a 50-cent part.

"Some years of ninjettes needed a 100 ohm resistor somewhere in the starting circuit to fire. If you have a wiring diagram for that year, it should be straightforward to confirm."

Thanks dcj13 for you response. I think the 100 ohm resister is located in the ignition switch which was purchased new. Ill have to double check that.

The thing is OK, specs state 100~150 ohms, being able to generate peak voltage of 4.5 v or more.

Just in case it helps:

Just make sure you see the 100 ohms through the switch before you buy parts.

It would be better that you could borrow one CDI known to be working, instead of investing without certainty.

You are welcome
