My turn!

Yup my turn to post in here. Got in what I thought was a left turn lane for the road I was going to, turned out to be a u turn lane with a median. Couldn't swerve in time and locked up the front trying to brake, didn't stop in time and went over the bars. Bike will end up totaled by insurance, forks are bent, bodywork is toasted and front wheel is slightly bent.

As for me bumps and a bruise on my left side and a shattered collar bone, could have been a **** ton worse yay for gear! Just got home from the hospital. Pics tomorrow tired and in pain right now.

That sucks man, yay for gear though. Glad you came out relatively unscathed. I still don't really understand what you did. Did you pick the wrong spot to turn on a side road, turned out there was no side road and just a u-turn. You were going fast enough to make the left but way to fast to U-turn so you locked em up when you realized?

I'm glad you are ok and glad gear was part of your ride! Sorry to hear about the bike - from the pics she was a pretty machine

I am curious to hear what happened in a bit better detail. I've never seen a u turn lane so I'm struggling to imagine how the scenario looks.

Does this mean the bike stopped in time but your body didn't?

Jeff, I saw this on Facebook! Nice collarbone xray dude!! Glad you're doing ok.

Are there any nice parts on your bike you'd like to send me without the insurance knowing about? (like rearsets? )

I am curious to hear what happened in a bit better detail. I've never seen a u turn lane so I'm struggling to imagine how the scenario looks.
Headed on Carson road to hawthorne blvd we were going to make a left on Hawthorne, the lead rider (max) got in the lane to turn, I got in what I thought was the lane to turn as well but because this is a road by the mall it has a u turn lane with a median that juts out, by the time I picked up it was a u turn lane and a median in front of me it was too late. I tried leto swerve at first and was not going to make it so I got in the brakes.

It turns out I didn't lock them up as I thought but with the front compressed by braking when the tire hit it threw me over the bars and the bike flipped I think and spun/slid a good while. I hit the ground after being airborne on my left side. My shoulder/head hit first then arms then I rotated and spun on my back. I had on a helmet, jacket, gloves and boots for gear and it all did its job. Other then just lading hard on my collar bone and breaking it into four pieces I have 0 other damage to me. I know if I had been riding squid I would be super ****ed right now.

As for the bike, it has bent forks, slightly bent rim and the bodywork is toast. Insurance will be here to look at it next week and I am sure it will be totaled out.

I made the wrong decision on how to avoid it, I should have swerved right. I might have made it then. Left I had no chance of making and braking was obviously not going to work. I was glad when I noticed I didn't lock up the brakes though. If I am going to crash I would rather make a mental error then a basic riding fundemental error.

Ninja 1K, going to put the 250 back together for a track/race bike. Sharon will take the fazer for a street bike and I'll get the ninja 1k for street.

I also want to give a great big thanks to Badger, Alex s., Max, Bobby, Ken and Tiffan. They got my bike back home, came up and checked up on me at the hospital. Best group of friends/family a person can have!

Here's a crazy story and I don't mean to thread jack you Jeff.

There was this guy who was riding his bike with his girl on the back. He had given his girl his gear, helmet and jacket. They're on the highway when all of a sudden the traffic up ahead comes to a stand still. The car in front of them comes to a fast stop and he sees that the car behind him not stopping or slowing down at all so he tells his girl to to hold on tight. He pops a wheelie towards the car in front of him and throws his girl over the car. The car behind him smashes into him and his bike. His friends didn't think he was going to make as his head was busted open and he was bloodied up. My girl met him and I saw him at a meet a couple of weeks ago. He was in a wheelchair and still had bandages on his shoulder.

So Jeff, do they have you in a sling or are you casted up like that kid in that one movie who pitched crazy fast?

I was going 70mph when I saw the car in front of me stop, I checked behind me and saw that the car behind me hadn't stopped so I turned to my GF and said "Bitch hang the **** on we bout to get 100% badass up in this shyt" so rather than hitting the brakes or heading off into the shoulder or lane splitting between cars I did the only logical thing that any responsible rider would do. I accelawheelied into the car in front of me in order to launch my ho over the bike so she wouldn't get smashed.

Unfortunately I'm so ****ing badass that I didn't fly over the bike with her cuz I got massive fore arms and inner thigh strength like a boss so after crashing I was just chillin on the bike until the car behind me plowed into me. Considering that I accelawheelied into the car in front of me and the car behind me was probably slowing down by now, there was a pretty big gap of time where I could have gotten off the bike but I decided not to cuz you know, I'm a badass pro shyt kinda rider.

I am only so thankful that I was not wearing my gear or it would have inhibited the complex maneuvers I had to perfrom.

LOL, swerve and lane split to safety? F that! Launch that bitch over the bike and most likely break her neck on the fall plus I get to be crushed in between two cars!!

It's what they teach in the MSF, true story.

Had surgery today, installed a plate and screws to put my clavical back together, at first they thought it was in four pieces but it was in six. Took a bit longer and was a bit more of a pain in the ass for the doctor to fix. I don't know how many screws or how big the plate was they put in. I'll find that out next week when I go see him.

All in all in good shape. From how hard I think I hit and the people with me seem to think I hit pretty damn hard ill take what little damage i have. Wear your gear guys and girls and you may walk away from an accident as well

It was the 250. I don't have any good pics of the damage but I get it back from salvage tomorrow. Taking it to Ken and Crissys place this weekend to go over it. From what I have looked at allready a slightly bent front rim, destroyed front forks, left bar and rearset and of course bodywork is trashed.

Come out to indio this weekend we are all going to be there should be good times.
