best 2 bike combination...
guys and gals, no one bike can do it all...many want a bike for cruising, some just for commuting, others for strafing the canyons, and then there is touring...
i have an 04 ninja 250 for commuting, a nimble, flickable little bike for the city and fast enough on the freeway...and an 07 cbr 600 for my weekend jaunts to the twisties when i want to satisfy the need for an adrenalin rush... never mind the fact that to many this would be an impossibility, but if you can have 2 bikes which ones would you choose?... |

I bought the 250 for street riding, commuting, ect. The 6R for "twisties/hard riding/ect" and the F2 as a dedicated race/track bike. Oddly enough however the 6R and the F2 are in pieces on the work bench so the 250 is going to the track this weekend lol.
I do need to add a cruiser/bagger to the lineup though. The wife just doesn't want to ride with me on any of the sporting bikes anymore. |

I've had the itch to acquire another bike since I test rode the Ducati 696 back when it first came out.
I'm with the OP here, probably going to cop an older gen Monster or a 796, and maybe an 848 when I get that next promotion

For me, right now my ideal setup would be
2010 Ninja 650R (passengers and long distance) 2010 Ninja 250R (my baby) 2012 WR250R (everything else) If I could only have two, I'd take the 650r and WR250R

For me the ideal setup would be
250r track Daytona street Goldwing loooooong rides... Unfortunately the closest track to me is 1000miles away, the Goldwing isn't sold here and I can only pray to god and hope I can afford the 675/r once it's launched here... Lol |

All the responses point out what a great streetbike the EX250 is; everyone needs one in their stable. If I had only one bike this would be it.
For a second bike, I'd go with a larger displacement bike for touring and 2-up riding. My 550 Vision is OK , but the little Ninja's better handling and brakes make me want something newer and better performing. I've been pretty impressed with a buddy's BMW, I'm not sure what model it is but its fast, roomy, comfortable and efficient. |

yea the new 2012 actually looks nice, unlike the pug faced ones before that. But I rode one of them on demo ride and was impressed with everything...from its compact size to the monstrous power.
It wheelied just as I was trying to catch up to guy in front me, something I'd never experienced on the 250... |

After getting some input from a local forum, I've decided that my second bike is going to be a Ducati S2R 800. I love the styling, the torque, and there's about 75-80 HP for the freeway and fun

I don't want or need a second motorcycle right now, but in the future I'd like an electric bike. I like the look of the Zero DS FZ9:
It's a bit ugly imo, but I like what it is and what it does. If I had that I'd use it for all my quick trips. I'd keep my ninjette and use it for weekend riding and long distance trips. |

My stable consists of:
'07 EX250 for commuting to work and fun short rides (65MPG average) '02 Hayabusa (1300ccs) for 2 up and long rides and special occasions (45MPG average) I should be slapped for what I am about to say but I am contemplating trading in my BUSA for a more comfortable and brand new "BIG" bike for my 2 up and long rides. Love the BUSA but it is just so heavy it makes parking lots and riding under 20MPH difficult. (((side note.......at "high" speeds nothing feels more comfortable and safer then the BUSA...especially over 80, 90, and 100MPH ))) Thanks ""gitoy"" for starting this thread...Nice to get ideas what others use to complement there 250s...keep the ideas and comments and suggestions coming! |

i've been looking into ebikes side by side w/ the ninja and cbr 250s before i even took my msf class! haha (i'm a closet treehugger ) and would totally spring for one when support for EVs are more commonplace here. Zero would also definitely be my brand of choice! (seems more humble and less flashy - the underdog, if you will - than brammo, making it all the more alluring to me). seeing as i'm too short, at 5'4" w/ a 30" inseam, for most dual-sports, i would get the latest Zero S ZF9. and seeing as land access where i live is not very...shall i say... "vast" , a good majority of my trips would fall well within its range. but alas, asides from the lacking EV support here, the EV motorcycle tech is growing at a tremendous rate right now and i'd hate to invest in a product only to have it be rendered obsolete the very next year (always have to have the latest, shiniest, high-tech gadget!). also, i've read around that Zero's got big plans for their 2013 lineup! can't wait!

* high fives her fellow tree-hugging Hawaiian twin *
I think we need to save up for 2013! The range on the 2012 models is already enough for what I'd use the bike for. If they improve it though, that would only make the bike better. I like the idea of buying a set of solar panels to trickle charge it during the day. No more trips to filthy, expensive petrol stations! Electric bikes like the zero are so simple in design. Far fewer mechanical parts. I suspect maintenance would be much lower and reliability much higher than combustion engine driven bikes (like the adorable ninjette!). They report that you can get like 300,000 miles out of the battery pack too ! |

I'd like a 650 to compliment the 250. Debating between the ninja, one of the older gixxers and an r6(they look beasty!). The 650 would be for 2 up, longer distances and the weekend group rides! |
