Downloading problematic YouTube videos

Back when Next Media Animation animated the Osama bin Laden death story, they took their sometimes-vulgar animations over the top and I knew that I needed to save it right away because it would get pulled and be lost forever. Free-speech or not, the Taiwanese producers probably had no idea how sensitive the English-speaking world is to things like that or how retaliatory other parts would be (Osama's body being urinated on by soldiers and him being raped by 72 virgin pigs in the afterlife). I know, it's not the same as insulting the prophet Muhammed, but I think it's more relevant than ever now due to the outrage over the "Innocence" video controversy.

Anyway, I originally used a YT downloader on my iPhone 4 that I no longer have and never backed up. I immediately uploaded it back to YouTube from the same phone as a private video. Sure enough, their video was soon gone and mine had a copyright claim from NMA and remains "Blocked Worldwide." I've had several requests for the video, but I couldn't download or share it even though I could still play it.

I recently looked at it again and noticed that it says my account has been penalized for having the video and that the penalties will be gone once I delete the video. It's the copyright claim and NOT the content causing this. It turns out that someone uploaded a slightly altered version with an English narrator, which has survived just fine despite the content. Before I delete my copy, I just figured I'd check again to see if anyone has any DL suggestions. If I can play it so I should be able to download it, but none of the YouTube downloader plugins I have seem to work. I really don't want to make a third-gen screen-capture dupe, but I do want to back it up and delete the video from my channel.

It does for me too, but not for this video. It acts like it's going to work with the animated colored icon and everything but the button just disappears when I click it. I also hate how it changed my Firefox UI and reverted to the old style with the useless Forward navigation button.

Hmmm, looks like YT went the extra mile with that.

I'm trying to look through the webpage coding to see if there is anything viewable as far as finding a source for the video....

Could the "download videos" section of this webpage help?

http://www.mediacollege.com/video/in.../download.html

Nevermind...it looks like they changed the formatting of YT to protect it better. I'm pouring over the HTML to see if I find anything that hints to possibly video sources.
