Carb overflow line

Hey guys i recently bought my first bike slighty running. Upon going through the carb and fighting to put it back on the airbox and looking at tons of videos I realized I have no carb overflow line. I read for some bikes people take them off but i imagine fuel spilling on a hot motor and that seems like a no go. Is it a must? If it is what size is it and is it possible to get it on with the carb on already?

Provided your float valves are holding AND the bike is not dropped....leaving the vent line off will be ok. Alternately, finding one to install shouldn't be difficult. Note it MUST remain open to vent. Suggest a "salvage" OEM hose from somewhere.

And yes, it IS possible to install/remove an OEM vent hose without carb removal.

I just replaced mine with generic tubing 5/16" inner diameter.

The inner hose diameter and length ( from original factory hose ) is .3 inches and 19.75" long.
