The lightweight class finally got to enjoy a very familiar playground, Jerez welcoming them with cool and overcast conditions. After Tatsuki Suzuki led the way for the first half of the session, the second half was a remote dispute between Niccolò Antonelli and Gabriel Rodrigo, where the Italian came out on top with a late attack on the timesheets. Rodrigo settled for second, a tenth and a half behind the leader, while Jason Dupasquier impressed in third spot.
