Then I moved to Florida and during rush hour commute to work, damn cagers kept pulling out in front of me. Seems flashing the head lights means go ahead and enter traffic in front of me here in the dumbshine state. I pulled them off and sold them on eBay and cars stopped pulling out in front of me. Be careful. |

Huh, good to know. I thought the thermobob bypass unit looked a little different than that shown by ExploringCarolina on here. No biggie, should make it easier to store in there, right? I'm okay with that.

I've seen a few posts about the thermobob. Is it that beneficial for the bike to get to operating temps that much faster?

And more evenly. It keeps the head at a more consistent temp throughout.
and it does a better job at regulating temps when it's cold outside. |

Agreed, it's a well known modification for a lot of off-road, and enduro bikes, like the KLR650, a lot of those guys have them.

Replaced the stock clutch cable with a MotionPro cable. Thoroughly lubed that and the shifter mechanism with grease. Feels like a new bike. Spent a fine morning run with the bike.
Got passed illegally on the right by some cretin. Made me wonder how Western culture has come to trivializing anything that does not have to do with the individual. |

Nice! But whyyyyyy tint??? That's the only thing I regret doing to my ninja. I should have gotten the double bubble in clear... Can't see through a tinted one at the track. Nor can my camera unless I get the camera super close and only look through the tint.

Put her up on new TRex stands, torqued the engine mount bolts, torqued unitrak bolts, got the tail section and grab bar back on, replaced front turn signal bulbs with XB LED bulbs from thetretrofitsource.com, removed the little light shields in my gauge cluster so my green LED's light it better, installed a thermobob with the stock temp gauge (need to figure out how to ground the housing so the sensor works...) and filled her up with fresh Engine Ice, installed a front master cylinder from a Ninja 650 (5/8" Nissin unit instead of a 1/2" Nissin unit, for science), bled both brakes, replaced my fairing/headlight bracket with the one that @Jono sent me, installed my footpegs, drilled the anti rotation hole on my left handlebar on the WC bar that @csmith12 loaned me last august, ordered new Renthal firm grips, gapped and installed new plugs, put my fuses back in place and tested turn signals/brake light and such, cleaned/lubed choke cable, clutch cable, and throttle cables, installed a new clutch lever and stocked 2 full spair sets of levers.
Once my wheels are done getting powdered, I'm good to put my wheel bearings and new rotors back on and see about getting her running! I want to source a set of newgen rearsets and swingarm pivot caps. If anyone has those, please LMK. I'll keep my pregen stocker rearsets as crash spares. Once @subxero gets in the intake runners, I can button up the intake with my pod filter and that area will be good to go. OH! Need to put in a filter and get some cheapo 10W-40 conventional oil in her before I start. CAN'T FORGET THAT! New rings, going with conventional for a few miles of break-in. Then it's going to get the Royal Purple 10W-40 treatment. |

Lots
2010 ninjette / red picked up for $1200. Lined and cut off all damage fairings to get a flowing look where you can see the whole tank, front fender modified due to damage...straightened foot peg and shift lever, straightened handle bars, cleaned aftermarket turn signals and got them working, cleaned rims, cleaned and oiled chain (didn't know it was silver), changed oil and filter....They didn't treat her right, but I will. Mounting after market turn signals on oem mirror brackets and doing bar end mirrors. New Kenda tires in the mail.

Pulled the carbs to re-jet on the track Ninjette and adjust a little free play out of the throttle. Installed the shift spring I have had sitting around for like a year lol.
Need to re-jet the street Ninjette as well and then probably some general maint stuff for good measure. More work been going in on the XR100s than anything.

I wasn't happy with the stock turn signals on the new Ninja, so I pulled them off and replaced them with some from another bike. Suzuki, maybe? Idk...
I didn't know that there was a universal turn signal mount standard for Japanese machines, but the teardrop shape of both mounts made installing them a breeze! They actually look better than the stock ones. I've been hit in the past because a driver didn't see me from behind, so bigger/brighter is better in my little mind. Ride on, J~

18,400km additions
After our last run to the local track, I needed new tires and a chain so I decided to add some other stuff while it was in the shop.
I've been on Battlax BT-39's for the last 8,000km and decided to try radials this time so I put Battlax Hypersport S20 EVO's on it. The reviews look pretty good and I'm hoping to get a bit more wear out of them. Added braided brake lines and new rear brake pads with an oil change. I noticed on the trip home that air drag on the front brake line was causing it to be pulled down and "loop" out between the brake caliper and the "ring guide" on the fork. The stock rubber grommet holding it up higher wasn't enough to keep the line tight. What is everyone doing about that?

Also note the NINJA GRAPHIC on the brake light, it's reflective red, to add a bit more safety, and style. Also all the other graphics are reflective silver, which goes well with the color scheme of the bike. See photos below

Ended up finding a buyer for my Pregen -- $250, broken cam chain and that was the best offer I was getting :/
On the flipside, this Friday I'll be picking up my Newgen 8k miles, 2010, total note is ~$2500'ish from the dealer (plus applicable taxes and fees) Can't wait to pick her up! |

Time for new bearings and get my tires back on. One of the last steps before I can actually ride it in 2015! |
