Nissan makes killing bikers a new sport

Just saw the TV ad for Nissan's Juke car.
http://scaryideas.com/content/20612

Although it's just a cartoon, it depicts three sport bikers as being targets for a crazy woman driving the Nissan Juke. She hunts them down and kills them one by one. The narrator then claims that the center console of the car is a trophy (one of the bike's gas tanks).

At the very least, this commercial is in very poor taste. Why don't they do something a little less violent like chasing down puppies and running them over instead? At least no humans would get killed.

This happened a while back. Trust me the biker community made such an uproar, the ad was pulled immediately!

Complete mischaracterization of the ad. In the ad the motorcyclists are depicted as the bad buys in a post-apocalyptic Japan. The OP for whatever reason decided to lie about what the ad really showed. Why? Who knows why people lie.

Lie, NOT! That's very strong language. Watch the video in the link and decide for yourself. The video I saw was exactly as I described. Crazy woman runs down bikers. The video showed her chasing them and not the other way around. What exactly did he bikers do that made you think they were bad guys? They met a woman in a parking garage and the next thing you know she is trying to kill them with her car. I went back and looked at the video again to see if I could see a gun or something, but I couldn't.

Definitely not cool. Not sure how it could be interpreted as a post apocalyptic world or that they were bad guys needing to be executed.

The animation looked really rubbish and amateur to me.

I didn't get an anti bike feel from the ad. It just felt like the bad guys happened to be riding motorcycles.

Not sure who that ad is supposed to appeal to. It sure didn't make the Nissan whata-what appealing to me. I agree with @Jiggles: those bikers sucked! They had super-bikes and they got mowed down by a crappy drive-kids-to-school pseudo-4x4.

The bikers all had the ecotrons EFI kit. <just kidding>

Still, just because she got bad vibes from the bikers doesn't mean its OK to kill them.

the commercial not only showed a nissan juke keeping up with motorcycles, it showed a juke jumping a building. what part of this commercial is in any way meant to be taken seriously or imply anything about bikers? what do you want the bad-guys to be on? trikes? how about a minivan.

Well it was just a cartoon so no real bikers were hurt during the filming. But the realism is such that it portrays real life methods for hurting bikers. In other words, there ARE people out there that don't like bikers and this ad is like a how-to for killing bikers. Yes, a real biker can get away, but only if he sees it coming. Remember that if you kill a biker with your car its only an $87 fine (in Florida) and you can mail it in. That's the fine for violating a biker's right of way.

As far as what kind of vehicle to give the bad guys, how about one of those dark tinted Black SUV's with really low aspect ratio tires and those chrome whirly hub caps on mag wheels. Nothing says drug dealer better than that.

1: their 'instruction' for biker killing is... you kill a biker by hitting them with your car. there is no further instruction. im more worried about people who are unintentionally trying to kill me. not the ones actually trying to kill me.

2: im sure there was some popular case in the media where a biker was killed by accident and the only consequence the driver faced was a fine of 87$, right? because overblown media stories are 100% accurate, unbiased, and apply in every other situation related right? clearly running down a biker intentionally would have no consequences outside of a traffic ticket... interesting way of thinking.

3: how is a juke supposed to do anything to a larger vehicle? let alone those tanks people call SUVs.

they made a commercial, people overreact. its what people do.

1. You're right in terms that pretty much any collision with a car will do the biker in. However, the video went out of their way to portray the grimest possible outcome. For example, the third biker low sided, but they had to make him low side into a solid wall and go splat.

2. The $87 fine is not from a media report. Its from ABATE which is actively trying to make it a crime to kill bikers with your car. In practice, its not currently illegal in Florida. A common statement you hear from survivors is "She looked right at me and then pulled out anyway." There is no way to prove that it was intentional even if it was - short of the driver confessing. Without proof or a confession, they get an $87 fine and that's it. The only exception I know of is if the driver was drunk when they pulled out. In that case, unless he's a big cheese, he's going to jail.

3. When th Juke jumps the building, they could make it land on the SUV. That ought to slow it down a little. Since its a cartoon, they could make it go completely flat.

Since its a cartoon, they could make it go completely flat.
i bolded some parts above.

1. not trying to dog on your ...statistics, but i've been hit by 2 cars. no injuries. also don't see how having grim consequences indicates any additional info or instruction on killing bikers, outside of "hit them REALLY hard."

2. ok so anyone in an accident with a motorcycle should instantly go to jail. got it! totally makes sense. because its not like people get in accidents every day. and it's not like its the motorcyclists decision to take the risk of riding without a cage. one time i hit some dropped oil in my car and spun into a semi truck. i should probably go to jail for attempted murder.

3. it's a "cartoon" made for 20somethings. not 5 year olds.
