Wendy's near my work discriminates against bikes.

I was sitting at the Wendy's near my work waiting to order my lunch since i now commute on the bike and i didn't get a single greeting for about 5 minutes. Beeped my horn, waited a bit and still no response. So I went around to the parking side walked in and placed my order sine obviously they weren't going to serve me in the drive thru. I asked the man at the register if they don't serve bikes and he said no, no reason, just no.

Would it be reasonable to call the district manager for that Wendy's and see why it is they won't serve a person on a bike? It's kind of annoying to take off most of my gear just to walk back out a few minutes later to put it all back on.

Drive thru's usually use some kind of weight detection or motion detection so your bike might not have triggered it because of its weight or its small size compared to a car.

It just depends on the chain. Some use systems that are really sensitive and detect people walking past them. I just drive up to the main window if it doesn't work and order from there, they understand the issue since I'm on a bike.

For obvious liability reasons, they are supposed to refuse anyone on foot or on a motorized device that is not street-legal (if you got ran over with one, you could sue them for allowing to to mingle with cars).

The motorcycle counts as a street-legal vehicle. Plenty of drive throughs can't pick them up. They are very finnicky and often times they are only borderline-able to even pick up the presence of a bike. Some that seem to work fine on one day don't on the next.

It sounds like you simply didn't understand him. You asked if they "DON'T" serve bikes and he said "NO" meaning that they DO serve bikes. :P

Yeah, sounds to me like someone needs to watch more vlogs, lol. Bikers try this all the time but the fact is that like CZroe said, the sensors usually don't pick up the bike. It's not that they don't want to serve you. They don't know you're there. You could always just try to ride around to the window if it doesn't detect you and try to order there. I've seen quite a few bikers have success with that when the sensor fails.

maybe they use different sensors here, they revamped all the fast food places about 2 years ago.

i just pull up right next to the microphone, and they take my order.
pay then stuff the food into my jacket and ride off.

The story made the rounds years ago. IIRC, she's a former stripper too.

Oh, and then there's this "date night:"

There's also the inductive magnetic loop type, similar to the systems used at traffic lights. Back in my teens, we discovered an all night Wendy's drive-thru in the neighborhood that actually had a metal detector built right into the speaker tower. You could set it off with a metal wrist watch. They were surprised to see drive-thru customers that appeared at their window on foot . Of course, they denied to serve us for "security reasons".

Every time I've been through the drive thru, they always stand further than arms distance away. I think their worried they cant see my face and will rob them or something. Even places I regularly go to, same as always.

I go through a local Wendy's occassionally and I get picked up by the speaker, they're always super friendly and usually comment on my bike/gloves/jacket matching. One woman has told me a couple times that I need a green helmet to match the rest.

That video made me crack up haha. Stupid legal actions are stupid

I went to DisneyLand a couple years ago and I was surprised of the amount of fat people on motorised wheelchairs. I'm guessing they're using it because they're too lazy to walk? If so, that is very disturbing

sometimes the buzzers wont go on for a bike. ill pull up to the window. if someone refused to serve me, i would get their manager. if their manager refused to serve me, i would get their district manager on the phone and tear that asshole a new one. if they refuse to give you a direct line to a DM, call corporate. the manager will be punished.

if its a one-off shop, give up. they have the right to refuse service to anyone. but chains will punish employees for unjustly denying service.

FTFY, and, yes, I watch FPSRussia. I recognized that as the State of Georgia before reading and confirming that he's just a GA boy pretending to be Russian. Nothing specific, but the plants, terrain, etc. Also, GDOT is recognizably different than CalTrans.

Yeah but I don't like him after he faked at least one of his videos and tries to claim it's real.

Yeah, I had submitted a comment showing where his bullet hits the ground & dust flies up, then they just edited in another clip of the target getting hit...but of course he didn't "approve it" or deleted it :P

But, he gave all the CoD fanboys boners.

All the Wendys nearby where I lived were forced to close down after the health department found out they were selling expired food and didn't meet the FDA standards. That's what I've been told at least... Kinda scary when you think about it.
