Difference between cruisers and sportbikers

I guess there are exceptions to everything. Went out for a ride the other day and swung by my friend`s shop. There were about a dozen sport bikes assembled there waiting for five o`clock for the shop to close---then go off for a ride. I got invited to go along. I had expected the destination to be a bar--was pleasantly surprised that the ride was to Dunkin Donuts some 20 miles away. It was a really nice ride and there were lots of other sports bikes----with an ocassional H-D and other brand cruiser. We hung around the parking lot and picnic tables having our coffee and swapping stories. Looks like I found a new destination.

I don't know about you, but Dunkin' Donuts at 5pm means stale donuts to me.

I have rode with both groups and I have noticed that difference as well.
The following is the difference I have noticed with the two groups. For cruisers it's all about the destination. For sport bikes it's more about the ride.

People who ride cruisers are alright, they are just a little slower that sport bikers.

Some day I'll have to tell you about tim hortons.... the national kitchen table in Canada. They even have an outlet in Afghanistan with the Canadian troops.

Too bad there are very few Krispy Kreme's up here anymore.

Side note: Alex I'll be in Belfast at the end of the month for a wedding, any good bar recommendations?

the weather was so great in RI these last days that the roads were full of riders and even packs of HD riders gave the wave to me on the ninjette.

When I take my Vulcan out on group rides, we most always go to "biker friendly" restaurants, the odd museum, etc. The group never mixes alcohol and riding... its Rule #1

On a personal note I never mix the ETOH with riding at any time no matter which group (cruiser/sportbike) I ride with. Can't say there are any barhoppers in any of the groups I ride with.

Rollie`s on Main street is a good sports bar with good food. Dockside across the street from Rollie`s is quieter, has atmosphere and really good food. For restaurants (Sea Food) Angler`s in Searsport--next town over on Rte 1 is hard to beat.

Ditto here. Any drinking I do is at home when I plan to stay put or at anchor in the sailboat. On a MC it is just too dangerous.

I know a few neighbors that ride Harley's and some other cruisers. When I told them I got my bike they invited me to ride with them. I asked where they ride to and was informed to the bar 6 miles up the road.

I kind of sat there with a dumb look on my face and then asked them if they take a long route to get there and they said nope. They ride from the house to the bar and then back again after $1 drafts. Twelve miles round trip once a week, other then that the bikes sit.

I asked if they have any other rides they go on and if so how long they would be. They now stared at me and asked why I would want to ride any further. I just shook my head and told them I would pass on their "ride".

I skip the Dunkin' Donuts and stop at the McDonald's. But coffee isn't my addiction. Nothing better than stopping to enjoy some dollar menu. A McChicken and a McDouble with the buns swapped. Mmmmm.

I live above a girl who has a Honda Shadow. It has sat covered and unmoved for two weeks. I don't get it.

Every 3rd Thursday of every month the local Kawi dealer does what they call "burger run" where they go to a different eating establishment. The last one I went on was great.

Try the entire McChicken between the patties of the McDouble. Here in cali we call it the McGangBang.

(Their salsa makes a great condiment for it!)
