Kickstand switch removal
I would like to remove the kick stand switch off of my pre-gen. I keep having to take my kick stand off at track days so that I don't drag it. That leaves the kick stand stitch dangling. I keep zip-tying it to the fairing bracket but it's not a very robust solution. It's also a pain in the butt! I'd like to just remove the switch all together. Do I need to jump any wires to delete the switch? Or can I just cut it off?

not sure about the old gen but the new gen just needs the wires connected.

cut it off and tape it up, then remove the neutral sensor (single wire plug near the output shaft) so the bike thinks its always in neutral, then remove the gauges so you don't have to see that ugly neutral light. i black tape the neutral light

OK, so if I cut it off, do I need to connect the wires or keep them separate? And if I connect then do they need resistor?

i just cut it between the plug and kick stand sensor, and soldered the wires together.
i didn't get a chance to measure the resistance of the switch, it was trashed from my crash.

No resistor is needed. It is a safety device, replace it if you replace the side stand. http://faq.ninja250.org/wiki/Underst..._how_they_work

Thanks everybody! Just to close the loop on this (Ha! So punny...)
I followed the wires from the switch and they led to 2 pigtail connectors: I unplugged them both and plugged the male end of one into the female end of the other. And it worked! Kickstand switch delete complete! |
