Harley-Davidson Project LiveWire

What are your first impressions on Project LiveWire? I really like the design of the bike and how it looks a lot like a Buell.

"See it. Hear it. Feel it.
The Project LiveWire Experience begins a 30-city tour across America starting June 24th in New York City, where riders will be invited to take a historic ride."

They're showing next week in my city!!

I like it - but with a range of only 53 miles it makes a decent commuter, nothing more. Considering that the price will be something like $15,000 to $20,000 I will likely never own one.

Agreed and, though there's nothing wrong with that, watch them play it up as so much more than a commuter in the next Avengers movie.

My commute is 48 miles round trip, these electrics need to give more range.

Kinda nice looking. I would prefer dual front discs, but I heard that Harleys do endos if you use the front brakes...

A Google for "project livewire dates" gives this article as its first link:
http://www.pcmag.com/article2/0,2817,2459733,00.asp

Quote:
A 2014 U.S. tour kicks off with an iconic journey down Route 66, with stops at more than 30 Harley-Davidson dealerships. The Project LiveWire Experience will continue in 2015, eventually expanding into Canada and Europe
I've seen it reported elsewhere that the demos will cover both coasts during this summer, but exact dates are not set in stone yet.

Pretty cool looking bike. I'm interested in electrics.

It looks like they've tried to make this bike look like it has an engine and a gas tank.

I could hear a bat-mobile-tumbler reverberating sound coming from the bike in the video. Sounded good! That may have just been added as an after effect though. Most electrics I've heard have close to no-motor-sound so you can just hear the tyres and these clicking/plasticy sounds coming from the bike... not good.

Nice looking moto! I'm glad a major manufacturer has decided to build an electric moto. I may haver to go take a test drive when it comes to the West coast.

Great looking bike! For extended range they would have to make it a hybrid combining an electric motor with maybe a...... 300cc engine.

Love the idea of elec vehicles but mostly for their low maintenance. Like flat panel TVs and monitors, their time will come. We just have to find a decent balance of weight to capacity, charging time, distance and cost. Baby steps..., baby steps.

One article I read claimed 460 pounds:

The motorcycle weighs 460 pounds and can produce 74 horsepower. It can go from zero to 60 mph in under four seconds, but with only one gear its top speed is limited to 92 mph.
