building my own oven. there are more than a few free plans for larger commercial sized ovens... i'm using a smaller cheaper design for now then i'm going to upgrade to a bigger one later when i want to powder coat my frames. it basically is an insulated container with a hot plate and a temperature control with places to hang from on the top

Yeah, I want to build my own, but most plans call for 220v source. I suppose I'll have to get an electrician to come and get that taken care of eventually.

its cheaper (and easier IMO) to strip a heating element and temperature control from separate items like a hot plate and an AC control, then simply use the container from the plans... just make sure the temp control can handle the power requirements for the heating element. i've even seen a few cheap ovens that are basically a box with two industrial heat guns pointing in connected to a heat control unit

Yeah, I've never used the powders from HF. Just about any commercial powder supplier is good. Just depends on what color you're going for.
