I went out riding today with Timm3h.... and his rev issue where defiantly weird.
When he'd twist the throttle.. the bike would lag, choke a little and then it would pickup the RPMs as it's supposed to. When releasing the throttle, it would return much slower to idle speed then my bike. I'm no mechanic and Timm3h has a lot more experience with this type of stuff but... My personal opinion is the idle screw really has nothing to do with this issue once you got your bike out of the shed and running. I just think having a higher idle... just allowed your bike to get enough power to take off and not stall. When I took Timm3h's bike for a quick spin... I had to rev it a lot higher and let the clutch out slower to achieve a smooth take off... where on my bike, it was a lot quicker. The one BIG difference between our two bikes is... his is Shimmed, and my is NOT. He rode his bike with no problems, shimmed for several months last summer... so the needles should still be properly set. Anyone got some opinions?

clean the pilot jets. remove them and blow them out with compressed air. I bet they are gummed up shut.
also, make sure you have fresh fuel in the tank... drain out all of the old gas first. |
