[motorcycle.com] - American Motorcyclist Association and the Florida Motorcycle Road

The American Motorcyclist Association*(AMA) and the Florida Motorcycle Road Racing Association (FMRRA) have partnered up to help advance road racing in the southeast and furthermore, to grow road racing as a whole in the United States.*

Begin Press Release:

Goal is to advance road racing in the Southeast

PICKERINGTON, Ohio — The American Motorcyclist Association and the Florida Motorcycle Road Racing Association have agreed to a partnership to advance the sport of motorcycle road racing in America, particularly in the Southeast.

Beginning with FMRRA’s 2018 season-which kicks off in November 2017-all FMRRA events will be co-sanctioned with the AMA.

“The Florida Motorcycle Road Racing Association quickly demonstrated its prowess in organizing and operating club racing, and through its ladder system has actively been recruiting new racers from track day riders,” said AMA Track Racing Manager Ken Saillant. “The organization’s professionalism and efforts to respond to racers’ concerns and quickly implement changes impressed us from our first conversations. The AMA is excited to welcome FMRRA as an important new partner as we work together to grow both amateur and professional road racing in this country.”

Through the partnership, FMRRA gains access to AMA ratification and recognition of results and a clear path to professional licensing for riders who aspire to race MotoAmerica events.

The AMA, along with FIM North America, is the sanctioning body for MotoAmerica, home of the AMA Superbike Championship, and the sole representative and affiliate in the United States for the Fédération Internationale de Motocyclisme, the world sanctioning body for motorcycle sports.

Through the FMRRA series partnership with Florida Track Days, there is a clearly defined ladder system in the Southeast to take riders from the street to the track to race schools and club racing and, now, to professional racing with MotoAmerica.

“We are excited to add the AMA partnership to our growing list of distinctive features in the series,” said FMRRA Racing Director Jordan Marra. “As the only club racing series that incorporates live-qualifying a la MotoAmerica, it was a logical step.”

Tony West, Florida Track Days and FMRRA operations director, said: “Many of our racers are running select races on the MotoAmerica calendar, and our hope is that this partnership provides another step in the ladder that will further elevate the level of competition for both organizations.”

Marra and West formed FMRRA in 2015 to bring a new level of club racing to the Southeast. FMRRA series rules and classes are modeled after the structure found at the FIM and MotoAmerica.

AMA partnership and sanctioning adds to the FMRRA mission of bringing professional-grade formatting and qualifying, along with modern technology to club racers.

Marra and West said they are excited to support the AMA’s role as the country’s premier motorcycling advocate, protecting the rights and freedoms of motorcyclists at the track and beyond.

About the FMRRA
FMRRA, based in Fort Lauderdale, Fla., is the newest sanctioning body conducting motorcycle races at road courses across the Southeast. In its first two years, FMRRA has become the largest provider of track racing programs in one of the largest racing regions in the country. FMRRA offers a racer-licensing school at its events, as well as through Florida Track Days. For more information, visit www.fmrra.com.
