Lubricating Cables...
How do you do it? Kawasaki suggest dripping motor oil? That sounds difficult? How about using these? I've heard some people don't lube them at all...what happens if I don't?
Motion Pro Cable Luber What do you guys use to lubricate your cables?

Just out of curiousity, can I use WD-40...
I have another question, how do I tell how much fuel I have and can use?

Don't use WD40. WD = Water Displacement. It's not the best lubricant. If you're really concerned about how much fuel you have left you'll have to keep track of how many miles you get on a tank (assuming your KLX has a speedometer and odometer).

WD 40 is great for cleaning the cables. To lube the cables, use teflon lube.

The frequency is more important than the method or lubricant.
Lubricating the interior is not enough; the pivots at the ends and any surface against which the cable rubs, as well as the levers, need periodic attention, specially if the bike is exposed to rain.

Can I use the Teflon lube on the pivots as well? How about the other parts of the bike. For example, can I use it on the rear brake?

Keep anything besides brake pads off the rotors. If you get anything on the rotors, it will soak into the pads, and will make your brakes pretty much useless.

The manual recommends Molybdenum Disulfide grease. Brakes are a different story, they require brake high temperature grease in very small amounts on the slider pins only

This is how I understand choneofakind's statement:
Keep rotors and brake pads as clean as a surgical room. Both get very hot during braking and can melt any regular oil or oil-dirt mix that is close enough, which could find its way into those critical surfaces. The friction material of the pads tends to absorb any contaminant, which can reduce the friction capability permanently and also deteriorate the material itself or glue that joints it to the metal back-plate. Water from the road splashing or rain gets evaporated due to the high temperatures, causing no permanent damage. The pistons of the brake get automatically lubricated with the brake fluid and require no extra lubrication. However, they should be cleaned up during brake service or pad replacement. The levers and sliding pins of both brakes are the only mobile parts of the systems that should be lubricated as explained above.

and if they are old and rusty on the end or dirty when you push the pistons back in while changing pads, especially if you have ****** old nasty brake fluid in there it's possible to seize your pistons. which can mean your brakes get locked on and get hotter and hotter until they melt your caliper... i think @Nemesis has photos of this?

it sounds like you are confusing electrical wiring with control cables. like the things that connect your throttle and clutch to your carbs and transmission.

"They" are wrong.
All Bowden cables need to be lubricated. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bowden_cable

Rain likes sneaking into them, corroding the steel cable.
Copied from above link: "Bowden cables can cease to function smoothly, particularly if water or contaminants get into the housing. (Modern lined and stainless steel cables are less prone to these problems; unlined housings should be lubricated with a light machine oil.) Cables also wear through repeated use over a long time, and can be damaged through kinking or raveling. A common failure occurs on bicycles at the point where the housing enters a barrel adjuster; loose housing ends tend to fray the housing, making adjustments uncertain. Fraying due to fatigue is most likely if the cable passes over a pulley, which on bicycles is often below the recommended diameter, or where the cable is bent repeatedly where it attaches to the brake lever or caliper. Sharp bends tend to furrow the inner cable sleeves, though its significance for gear shifting and braking is poorly documented. If an inner cable is not replaced when it frays, it can suddenly break when force is applied strongly, causing the link to fail when most needed (e.g. to a brake)."
