Suitability really depends upon the type of riding you're doing. Are you doing commuting? Canyon carving? Track days? Racing? I have a different shock for each of those as I haven't found any that can do more than one of those tasks with any competence.

Ah yes! That's the missing link! The stock shock is fine for commuting, but lacking in canyon-carving. Progressive shock is perfect street upgrade!

My Razor-R and Ohlins shocks are fine for trackdays and racing, but are horrible for street-riding of any kind. I give the K-tech slight advantage for track-side support where I can get help dialing it in.

I thought Ohlins were good for everything. What's wrong with the Razor-R on the streets?

I have to change spring and turn down all damping levels for street-use. Even then, damping was still too stiff. I had originally bought it for track so they configured it for my weight. To use it on street, it would have to be rebuilt with different oil-weight as adjustment-range isn't large enough to encompass both track and street damping. Same with Ohlins.

^^ Interesting.

What shock for the N300 would you say to be a good compromise between street and track with no racing?

I have a penske that was built to be track ready. works ok on the street if you dont mind it being a little stiff.

I like Penske more than Ohlins.

I think that Progressive Suspension 435 shock is a great value for in-the-middle shock. Not as whimpy as factory but not too stiff for street use. Too bad the Kirk deal is no longer available. But still a good deal at $320-350.

Maybe check out that Indonesian shock Maverick found.

There's been many reports of people using GSX-R shocks, I'm going to try one of those.

Thanks for the offer. I’m only interested in a Penske, Ohlins or JRi. There are quite a few racers who visit the forum. Eventually one will be parting a crashed race bike.

08 250 Penske double clicker

I have a Penske Double clicker I bought for my 08 250. Bought new from TSE after 2017 season, and ran it less than 10 days in the first half of 2018 before I bought a 300 that came with an Ohlins setup.

hit me up if you're interested. I've been meaning to list the Penske for sale.
