No, you're thinking of the ContourGPS/Contour+. This one's just a video camera.

It's a very nice one at an amazing price though (I was stoked when I scored one of these for JUST $180 a while ago). Nice find

It comes with a flat stick on mount for mounting to the side of your bike or anywhere on your helmet, as well as a slip on mount for dirtbike/snowboarding goggles. I, however, have a separate RAM mount on my handlebars with a universal adapter, since I'm paranoid about the crashability of having a tough chunk of plastic clamped to the side of my head. But any of those methods will work.

I'm in the market, but was about to pull the trigger on a GoPro at twice the price. Tiffani, any thoughts considering you have the Contour? Ease of use, size, etc.?

I like it a lot. It's small (The whole thing will fit in the palm of your hand) and it's simple enough that you can operate it with gloves (You only need the big power button and record on/off switch to start and stop it). The video turns out really nicely, the editing program it comes with is simple and straightforward for those who aren't super video editing literate, and the battery life is pretty good- especially if you flip the switch for the lower resolution setting. Oh, and it's crash test approved

The only drawbacks I've seen are that there's no screen, so you have to have some sort of computer handy in order to review what you've recorded, and you also need to hook it up to a computer in order to change the settings (Like recording volume, bit rate, contrast and exposure, ect). Neither issue has been a problem for me, but I thought I'd throw that out there just as a heads up.

I don't know how the gopro compares, but I'm pretty happy with my contour

Even if they aren't serious problems, they aren't problems at all with the Bluetooth models, which is why I want one of those. I'm still wondering why the BT models need an adapter to work with iPhone when Apple opened up iOS BT to developers with custom BT hardware and they don't need it to work with Android. The only other thing I want is live viewfinder streaming from your cellphone like Looxcie Live with the Looxcie wearable camera.

Oh, and I'd want to see a "wearable" version as well for life streaming.

CompUSA isn't out of business yet?

Great deal though, I'll probably be picking one up.

GoPros have skyrocketed since their success. I still have a catalog when they came out in 2009 where they are $100... no joke.

I like GoPros to much to get another camera... lol

The two higher-end Contour models have the streaming view finder-to-iPhone capability with an attachment (the Connect-View card). I think the top-end one, the Contour+ (~$500) comes with that item included. Nifty app, but hardly worth the extra mulah for me, esp since I lack a compatible phone/tablet.

I've been looking hard at the ContourROAM, supposedly the next step up from the HD. It's waterproof to 1m, has a somewhat wider angle lens (170* vs 135* on the HD), more rotation on the lens (270* vs 90*, to correct for mounting sideways/upside-down), an integrated 1/4"-20 threaded mount for standard camera mounts, supposedly improved video and better battery life. Not sure it's worth another $80 though (it's currently $199 at Amazon). My biggest problem with the ROAM is the battery isn't removable, so probably no super-long days of recording, without wiring a charger and you have to open the back hatch to get at the microUSB charger slot (instead of just dropping in a spare battery with the ContourHD).

There's several video comparison/reviews out there, including one that does the Contour, GoPro and DriftHD all side by side. In general the Contour seems to be a little less rich color, but truer.

Glad to hear you've been happy with yours Tiffani. Thinking harder and harder about pushing "go" on a Contour of some form for myself.
Edit: Just decided to go for it & got a ContourROAM with a suction mount

For comparison's sake, the gopro also doesn't have a screen, but an lcd screen accessory is available for $79. You may need instructions, but you can change any of the settings on the camera itself (I doubt anyone will want to change settings on the fly though). It also has a one touch mode for record/off so functions with gloves. My camera was also crash-approved

Amazing price on the contour though

It's using your cookies. I researched the Timbuk2 hidden backpack and it advertised Timbuk2 crap to me for months on many websites (this included). I looked for a part number to a certain tool I had from Harbor Freight and it started advertising that tool and several alternatives to me for weeks despite already owning it.

They own Circuit City's name and logo too so don't do a double-take when you see a circuitcity.com deal. ;-)

I went and picked one of these up on Thursday. I am debating between mounting it to my helmet or mounting it on top of the gauges looking out the windscreen. Anyone mount one another way?
