need an engine, need your knowledge.

i need a another motor. not wanting to pay the outrageous 200$ shipping, i'm not using ebay. but i have a question:

will the EX500 motor fit a 2000 ex250 as far as bolting up? or will it take tremendous fab work?
if it's just a couple brackets, then no problem. but if it's a huge job forget it. i only ask because i've got a good deal on a 2001 EX500 motor.
DO NOT BOTHER REPLYING IF YOUR POST WILL BE "IT'S HARD" OR "TOO MUCH WORK".
i want details if you post.
second question, how much should i expect for a total rebuild at a shop of my 250 engine???
thanks ahead guys.

good one. i liked it, although the pics didn't work... sad. so what about a rebuild guys? I found why my motor wouldn't fire up, turns out the cam chain came off. bent valves, dented pistons. total damage report is four valves bent, two pistons fried... now i know why i got the bike for 350$ You think i could part it out and make money, then buy a used 250 for cheap?

I'm having two engines rebuilt right now to stock specs. I think the estimate was $600-700 per. That's parts and discounted labor.

Are you doing the work yourself? You will probably spend at least another $400-500 in parts alone.

that's what i figured, 600-700 to have rebuilt aint bad, but i just picked up a 97' for 300 bucks, front forks are twisted up. motor's good though. so everything should bolt right up from the 1997 to the 2000 right?

Don't know about the 97 to 00 fit. I would think it would be fine.

Btw, I bought a second motor the same way. Bike was tore to hell, got it at auction. Turns out 100% loss in both cylinders during leak down test. Hope you fare better, but when I learned that I realized that I'd rather pay twice as much be sure that I had an engine that works.
