No-rise clip ons
Is there anybody here running no-rise clip ons? I'm looking for ideas on how to mod the fairings to clear them and ideas on gauge placement.

I need to get a picture of me on it. I'll work on that...
And no, it's not just a farkle! It's what most guys wanted when they spent the money on riser clip ons!

Racer-X is your man there. He's the only one I've seen with extensive fairing mods, one of which I seem to remember was for lower clip-ons

I need to talk with RacerX. I've seen his mod'd fairing. It looks great! I'm thinking of going even deeper and eliminating the fuel tank attachment points.

I'd think long & hard about taking off the tank mount points. They're the only solid connection on the whole top of the fairing. The well nuts @ the front cowl are good, but I've seen far too many of them walk out to trust them like I do a metal bracket. But to each their own. Eager to see whatcha do!

If I do that, I'll have to fab up some kind of support bracket in that area. I also have the gauge set to deal with. It is in a temporary location right now. That additional support bar you see in the pics above the gauge is part of that plan.

Do you really need to mod it without the shroud? Realistically, your bars should never need to go lock-to-lock with your hand on them.

Without the shroud there is no place to mount the gauge set, thus modding is required. Lock to lock is required if you want to use the steering lock, which I do.

Right, but it doesn't need to have room for your hands on the levers. Adjusting levers would reach even further. I've heard about removing the clutch lever as a theft deterrent when leaving the bike. Perhaps making a brake lever quick-release would work as well?

Hands are not the issue with clearing the gauge set, its the front brake line and clutch cable that heavily intersect the gauge set. What you see in my pics equals those 2 items BARELY clearing the gauges. You'll also not that I "shortied" the levers; not for looks, but to clear the upper fairing at full lock.

Anyway, when I first heard of the alternately-styled Sportisi race fairings while they were still in development, I suggested that they provide clearance for clip-ons. No idea if they did that, though. |

Although asking for a Heads Up Display gauge display is a bit redundant, don't you think?

I had to take a cutter to my race fairings to drop the clipons down. Worth it to get the better positioning instead of trying to ride like a t-rex
