project "Raven"

hey everyone, here are some updated pics after a recent wash and wax. i've dubbed my ride "Raven" - the end goal is to turn my avatar into the real thing. the gunmetal vinyl accents are next on the list, then seat cowl, sportisi hugger, and bronze wheels. i'll post pics as changes are made.

The gold rims on a black bike looks hot and the silver will accent the body panels nicely.
HHHMMM I wonder how gold rims would look on a dark blue bike...?

i like that one too. i'd love to see that someone do that - but i'm sure it would cost a pretty penny.

****update****

not quite finished as i ran out of vinyl - but here's how she looks thus far. the vinyl work isn't difficult, but quite tedious and time consuming. keep the comments coming!

update

so here's verson 3.0 - she's been this way for the last few months. blacked out the "kawasaki" on the tank, also blacked out the bolts on the exhaust hanger and rearsets to blend in with everything else. brake calipers were powdercoated black. biggest change......wheels are being powdercoated bronze this week. new pics of raven 4.0 will go up asap. final version 5.0 will include OEM seat cowl and a new style Shinto hugger/swing arm cover.

Vince, Kawasaki should hire you as a design consultant. Then they would not have to worry about competition. Of course, they will raise the price.

thanks guys. at this point i don't have much left to do. i have some sick folding/adjustable levers that will be going on in the next week or so. also, waiting on a hugger/swing arm cover from an less than reliable guy in thailand that would really finish things off. i hope it gets here.....

This is kind of old, but I'm hoping you're still around to see it. I was curious how much vinyl you ended up needing for that. Funny enough, I was looking to do a design VERY similar to that (different color, and minor differences), but wasn't sure how much vinyl I would need. I can measure and guesstimate, but I just want to know if I'm in the right ballpark, not too much, or too little. Though too much doesn't hurt.

david,

i ordered bulk vinyl through www.tapeworks.com. they pretty much have every color you can think of. if you're looking to do something similar to what i did, i suggest you order 4-5 units (that would be a 14x48, or 14x60 sheet). better to have excess than run out and need more as shipping from tapeworks is $10 regardless of how much you order.

if you would like to see what you're planning to do mocked up before you get started, let me know what you had in mind and i'll photoshop it for you.

cheers

Wow, turns out that that company is in Raleigh (where I am located). I may just swing by the store and be rid of the shipping!
