[visordown.com] - Grand Prix Commision update Sporting Regulations
THE Grand Prix Commision have issued a press released following a meeting at Valencia regarding the 2015 regulations in Grand Prix racing. Notably jump starts and exceeding track limits have been re-evaluated. In regards to jump starts, it is down to Race Direction as to whether they have gained an advantage or not as long as they stop before the lights are out. Exceeding track limits is not only just a loss of position anymore. Race direction have now been given the power to impose other penalties to the rider, such as a time penalty, if they believe they have gained an unfair advantage. When familiarising themselves with the track, all riders and others, must wear a crash helmet, but there is now no rule to state you can only use a scooter. Instead, the regulations have broadened this to any motorcycle from other disciplines. The press release stated: Sporting Regulations – Effective 2015
The details of the procedure for technical control of MotoGP class engines were confirmed. MotoGP class engines may be required to be dismantled for checking by the Technical Director. However, the team may then rebuild that engine, using new parts, and the engine may then be used for the balance of its normal life, determined as 3,600 km.
