Rimtape wear and tear

Hey everyone. I was looking into the rimtape for my bike. I was wondering how the tape is holding up for everyone. I did a search but only found bikes that just installed it but after a few months is this thing gonna hold or am I gonna have to redo it again and again.

I just put some on about a week ago and was wondering the same thing. I'm not too worried about it as I was able to get a set of some pretty good quality ones for 5 bucks. If they last 6 months it's worth it.

If you can get decent ones, they last up to 7 years with normal wear and tear.

I found them on ebay. I don't remember the vendor info though, I just remember they took forever to get here. I'll look for the info and let you know.

Here's the vendor on ebay that I got mine from. I was wrong- they're $6 instead of $5, but free shipping and they're reflective.
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/REFLE...7146QQtcZphoto

He also includes four extra pieces (enough for the side of one rim) in case you screw up.

Chris, do you have any pics with the stripes on your bike? $6 shipped is pretty enticing...

They say universal size ... I wonder how it would fit on my '05 Ninja (16" tires instead of 17").

I'll try to take some pics and post them up. No guarantees on the resolution as my digicam is down right now and I've only got the crappy blackberrry camera.

16' tires should be no problem. It asks your wheel size and I believe the size I ordered worked for 16-18. The rim tape is cut into sections and you'll basically need 4 strips per wheel side. If you're worried about not having enough tape, don't be as he gives 4 extra strips (which is enough to cover one side of one wheel)

Here are some shots. Sorry for the crap resolution. The only gripe I have with the vendor is that he is in Hong Kong and so shipping takes a while. Pretty minor though as shipping is free!

How does the color look? I assume it's not quite an exact match with the bike, but it looks pretty darn close.

The red is close enough that I can't tell the difference. Don't know about other colors but from pics ive seen they look pretty close also.
