How can I make my exhaust quieter?
Hi, this might sound weird since most people want there exhaust to be loud and deep. But the previous owner of my bike put on a Two Brothers Slip On so that other cars could hear him better which is understandable but it is way loud.
Is there any way to make it more quiet for those late night and early morning rides were I don't want to wake up the neighbors or attract unnecssary attention? Don't get me wrong there are times when I do want the exhaust to produce its normal sound but is there a switch or something I could install to make it quieter and louder? Or just something I could put on to make it just slightly quieter? I don't want to reinstall the stock exhaust... I know I sound picky. Thanks in advance! |

there isnt much you can do really unless you want you weld something inside the exaust permanently.
This also bugs me out, I have the stock muffler right now and it seems ALL the aftermarket mufflers are Moto GP loud.. I just want a nice rumble.. oh well.

Yesterday while waiting at a light I was stopped behind a guy on a Harley Sportster with an exhaust that was definitely aftermarket. It was making so much noise and vibration I honestly thought my 250r was stalled until I looked at the tach and blipped the throttle.

The slash cut one is supposed to be 2-3db lower, tested 0db difference consistently with a local police db meter. The straight cut one only offered 2db difference. As loud as the TB slip on is, 2 db for $30ish + shipping ain't worth it, and you can't tell the difference. Doing it all over again, I would rather spend an additional $30ish for a better can that a TBR slip on.

Thanks for follow up... like i said they only claimed it, I wasnt sure how well it would work, stock exhaust is quieter and i think its either that, or another aftermarket exhaust.... Area P seems to be a popular one....

DB Dawg
Its an insert that I used in my 07 KX450 motocrosser, simply installs in end of exhaust with 2 allen set screws. Lowers db's and only hurts performance a little [upper revs] cost is 30-40 bucks. Still have mine send me your inside silencer diameter and maybe mine would work for you.
