leaking oil D:
Hey guys, recently did a oil change. A few days later I went to the bank and the next day I noticed a few oil spots under my bike. I had some trouble placing the big o ring in the spot when doing the change. I used the one in the fram filter box. Is that all that could be causing this?

Hm I did just make an observation. Stumbled upon a bolt that was kinda loose next to the oil filter. Not sure what that bolt even goes to but i tightened it up.

Both could be causing it - did you wipe clean engine oil on the o-ring before installing it? That helps it seal better. Also, ensure that the filter plate/bolt was torqued correctly.
Wipe and clean up the areas in question and pin-point where the oil is coming from - that should tell you what needs fixing, as there should be oil residue coming from the problematic part. |

Yeah that bolt was what I was talking about, that probably was leaking too, but I took the filter out and the O ring had a big chunk missing from it, so it must have snagged when putting it on the last time, this time I didn't press the metal plate all the way down, I pushed it up into the bike and tightened the bolt and I believe that did the trick, started it and let it run for 10 mins and no leak. thanks for all the help as usual fellas, best forums.
