out of curiosity,as a yet-to-own a ex250, what "feels" wrong with the brakes? Is it something that fresh fluid, steel line and adjustable lever could take care of. Ive raced/been on track with really cruddy/scary vintage bikes......like a 1982 gpz750,and little things like that help. I know its never the end-all cure-all,but on the track who needs brakes anyways

that must be a 300 thing. Both of my 250's have fine brakes.

Kinda what I always heard, that the 250's brakes were pretty good for what they are.

OK,Andre and Joe....what are all the classes you guys are running at CCS on 250/300's? I know you have GTUL, Ultralt Thunderbike and 500 supersport. Any other classes, regardless of being competative with the other bikes on grid? Its looking like my 2 buddies are picking up their 250's much faster than I anticipated, leaving me stuck with my cruddy old vtr250 if I ditch the ex500 soon. They are planning on the Summit round in 2 weeks, and want to know all the classes to run in.

^ having talked with andre and another 300 racer about it those are the three to sign up for

The 300 brakes work, they just feel mushy. My 250 brakes were the same way and bleeding them didn't help (though some SS lines may help on the 300, I'll be installing those soon)

Alright, cool. I was hoping for another sprint class, and couldnt figure out what it would have been if there was another. My buddies have jumped on to the 250 ship FAST,and are planning on the Summit round coming up,with their newly acquired 2-fiddy's.So its looking like I will see you guys in 500 SS only,on my ex500. I will be out at the same time as GTUL but in GTL on the FZR.

@Sirref, are you running stock exhaust/headers or a slip on when you race with TPM? I dont see many people using a full exhaust since you cant use a fuel controller.

I'm running all stock, full exhaust is allowed but there's little advantage to it. A slip on exhaust is worth it and you can run it if you already have one (which is the case for a few people) just no fuel controller, which is something that can be disabled and re-enabled

my only mods are woodcraft bars and yoshimura rearset brackets (and ebc hh brake pads along with dunlop A13 tires) and a future mod of SS brake lines (which may or may not be done in time for the race this sat)

You can run full exhaust without a fuel controller. It just won't have the same mid-range and will feel "off" if you are used to running one. It takes a couple of laps getting used to the feel. But it's not a deal breaker at all. I only run the 300 at the track. I'm sure the bike will feel terrible on the street without one.

For those that say 250's can't be competitive with the 300's, last weekend's race proved this isn't the case. This was probably the best race of the season for the class in Mid Atlantic CCS ultralight. 3 of us battled the whole race. Drafting, changing position, almost bumping. It was great! I really hope next year all of the races are like this. Enjoy the footage!

You can probably run with TPM's series. We have racers all over the place in terms of pace

still a race at njmp oct 10th

@Sirref - thx for the heads-up. I stick with CCS/ASRA right now for a lot of different reasons, but mostly because it's a known-quantity. I know the crowd, the structure of the events, and can even get in on a Team Challenge race now and then.

The TPM events sound fun, and if I had the time I'd squeeze one in. It does sound tempting with all the 250s, but how many races/weekend, how much it costs, and how they mix that in with the track day sessions is all research I haven't taken the time to do. With the CCS events being such a blast at this point, I don't believe I'll look elsewhere at the moment. But I have my ear open, I'm always looking to be sold on a better experience if one's there!

BTW, are the rest of the CCSers going to start running the Moto3 races since we are now apparently allowed? I'd love to get more laps in...

Yup, ccs is definitely the more competitive and known field. The tpm races have been fun for me because the grids have been good, except at njmp where we've only had 5-6 racers on average

Yes,thats the plan for next year as far as our crew has discussed.I dont see why the rest should not join in. The more races in a weekend the better.

@britx303 Cool, good to know I won't be alone when I register for those next year. I'm shooting to do all the Summit and NJMP CCS events in 2016.

Keep us posted on your 250 acquisition!

No way man,you wont be alone next year. We have a good amount of guys that will be either newbie racers or other guys stepping down from big Ducs etc. There should be a good enough amount of varying talent that everyone will have someone to run with. Its gonna be fun!! And its only September We've really been "talking up" the 250/300 class thing with alot of guys in the Mid-A region, and they all seem to be in for it.

Forgive me for doubting, but are you sure about the full exhaust? The TPM website still reads
Quote:
Exhaust upgrades are permitted (slip Ons ) no full exhaust
at the bottom of the section labelled "Ninja 250/300 - CBR 250/300 update to rules 7-26-15".

I'm still at the 'buying a lil' ninja' stage (tomorrow morning, in fact), so a bit of clarity would be pretty useful for me. A lot more skill would be even more useful for me, but I can't seem to find a seller for that

We have had people running full exhausts all season, the rule is no power commander. A full exhaust is useless without a power commander or a zero map power commander

Also, the rules are changing drastically for next year to create a second class so we will have to wait to see what's up for next season

Thanks. I was thinking (wishful thinking perhaps) lighter weight, not added power.

I guess I'll stay tuned for rule adjustments.

I'm staying tuned for that as well, I'm pulling for the open class to allow fully modified ninjas (ala ccs rules) so that you can run a ccs competitive bike in the tpm series without loads of work

there will still be a spec ninja class so it should all work out, hopefully with a fine balance between the two so people can run both series since almost everyone near the top wants to, or already does, run ccs with the same bikes
