Any advice on mods appreciated

Hi everyone I am rdano and new to the forums. I did another post before and realized I should have introduced myself. I have an 08 250 Green with 1700 miles . I was/am having some issues with it running correctly, engine bogs down and cuts out if I disengage the choke even after being warmed up. After doing lots of reading and trying different things, I am pulling the carbs to see how bad they are gunked up. Anyway, I plan on resolving my problems and doing mods all at the same time . Probably not a good idea but I will see how it goes. I guess what I am looking for is any comments on what I plan to buy. Like if I am missing something, something I should also do, or if I am buying something I might regret. I have been scouring the forums and the DIYs and came up with a list. Any advice, comments, inputs, or even ridicule is greatly appreciated.

Exhaust: Jardine RT5 full exhaust (changed from Sportisi)
Jet Kit: Factory Pro CRB-K04-3.0 (changed from Sportisi)

Airbox and Kleen Air removal
Parts needed:
Slingshot Racing Emission Block Off Plate
K&N R-0990 Air Filter

Tools needed/buying regardless cause I like them:
Offset screwdriver
JIS screwdriver bits

Also doing:
Oil and filter change
New sparkplug
Lube Chain
Checking everything including pulling carbs to check them out (clean if necessary).

Did I miss any parts or things I should consider? I want to try and get all the parts needed and get it all done at once while I have the bike stripped.

Thanks for the info Cuz I knew when I went back out to remove the airbox that I forgot something. Did you attach that to the hose that used to attach to the airbox or did you attach it straight to the case? I was looking at still using the hose and using this one (more expensive but I think it is the right diameter for attaching to the hose). http://www.amazon.com/RU-3230-Univer...pd_sim_auto_14

Oh and this is going to be a 2 week project, maybe a little longer. LOL

Thanks again I appreciate the help.

Thanks again

Thanks again for the info and the pics. I will order that one, and it is cheaper too.

Almost there

Got all my parts in and so far I have:

Installed the new exhaust and used some RTV high temp gasket
Removed Air Box
Removed Kleen Air system
Carb 40 pilot and 102 main, needle clip on third (to start with)
Changed oil

It is all back together except for the seat and the side fairings. I double checked everything and started it up. Seems to idle fine with the choke on half (30 seconds of running). It started smoking a little. I think it is the new exhaust, and I am 80% sure there are no exhaust leaks. I think it might just be burning some dust or oil off.

Anyway I will keep posting over the next few days as I finish the jetting and will post in the jetting database my final setup.

I do have one question, what methods are some of you using to ease the pressure on the carb because of the airbox removal and K&N 990 install?

I have some industrial strength rubber bands about 9 inches long and 1 inch wide (not a bungee cord) I was thinking of looping them through each other, under the air filter, around the upper frame and zip tying the lose ends together.
