My local Kohls has an electric car charging station. Some of my local malls do. Exactly how far do you declare that are we behind? USA current install rate/growth that I've read is about 180 charging station per month. And many owners of electric cars opt to have personal charging stations installed at their homes.
Understand the physical size of our nation as well - if you see that we might be slower to have complete installation coverage. Most European countries and Japan are the size of a single state. (I've heard complaints about why Japan has faster wireless speeds - it's cheaper to cover the metro areas there and they were initially behind and so implemented newer tech later in the process.) Anyway, I think we are on the right track already and it's only improving. |

Los Angeles and the surrounding suburbia have reasonable coverage with charging stations. We should have done this electric car thing the first time they came to market, but those were all leases. You weren't able to buy one and when they bought them back, that was it. This time the car dealers are selling them, which for us is much better.
