What to Get?
Ok, so since I'm looking into getting a bike I'm naturally looking for some safety gear as well. Here's the items I'm considering and some questions I have about them.
Helmet: Basically set on getting Bell RS-1 (shattered graphic) Jacket: Scorpion Assailant Jacket or Icon Motorhead Jacket (I'm on a small budget, so these are a bit pricey but I feel like it's worth the protection of a decent leather jacket?) Any other options? Also is it better to just get a separate jacket for summer and winter? Gloves: Shift Bullet Gloves...any more suggestions? Boots: Cortech Latigo Air Boots or Vega Sport II boots (open to any more ideas, Latigo Air prob wouldn't work for winter) Pants: ??? Not sure what pants to get, help me out here?

Good I was definitely leaning towards this assuming I get no terrible replies about it.

Depending on the temperatures you're riding in, you can probably get away with one jacket. I wear perforated leather in 95+ and its fine, albeit a bit warm. To be honest I would use my textile jacket instead, because of rain, if it was the right size. Its a scorpion hat trick with a waterproof liner and winter liner. I made a mistake and ordered a large rather than medium. I don't plan on riding in winter since Canadian winters are bad enough in a car.

I use these as over-pants: http://www.revzilla.com/product/joe-...istic-70-pants
They are solid and I have read reports on other sites of them performing well in a crash. In the summer months, they get really hot but the protection is worth the sweat. |
