Are You A Hunter

How many of y'all chase down other bikes on the curvy roads, sneak up on Suz's, hunt Hondas and whiz up on herds of thundering hogs.....and what usually happens.
How often do they take the bait.

When I come up on other bikes, I usually hang back and let them get some distance. I don't have faith in other riders' skills. They may all be better than me, but I would rather not have to find out, or get in a piddling match with someone and get injured.

I'm definitely with Truong on that one--couldn't express it better

If it looks like a cool group to ride with, then I'll probably try to catch up and see where they are riding to. Most riders are pretty friendly. But I can't deny that there haven't been times where I rode up on bikes and they wanted to race. I took the bait maybe twice. After seeing about a dozen crashes since I started riding last year, I don't do the race thing anymore. I leave that for the track.

Gee..I have to say I'm real surprised by the replies so far......3 for 3 in favor of caution.
Yeah, Truong sums it up pretty good but at the same time, 1 on 1 play racing when you know your limits is fun and exciting and builds skill.

When I see a group of motorcyclists on the road I usually turn off and go the other way. Bikers are a rough group and I've heard rumors of people getting into fights and being beat up by these crazies. I don't know why anyone would take the chance of an encounter with roughnecks.

Having said that, there is nothing more satisfying than blowing by as many riders as you can on the track.

I just ride at my own pace. If I see a bike/bikes in front of me I just keep riding at my pace if/when I catch them I will usually slow and ride with them for awhile. If I find their pace to slow, I pass and give a little wave; if they speed up to what my pace was or something close I usually just tag along. If another bike/bikes come up from behind I just keep the same pace, if they pass they pass. If they pass on the straights and slow down in the corners enough to piss me off I will eventually pass them back.

It depends. If it's a very small group or one other person, I watch and see how they're doing. If they're uncomfortable or more skilled I'll hang back. But if the conditions are right (not freeway, familiar road, not a supersport, not a cruiser) I'll give it a shot and try to follow them.

If I can't.. no big deal.. roll off the throttle and ride on. When commuting I try to find other bikes. It seems safer/more visible.

My ninja isn't fast enough to catch up to most people who ride the roads I ride

What is this "curvy" you speak of? Here in Saskatchewan the most curve we get is off ramps pretty much. Very lame if you ask me

I couldn't agree more... riding with other riders makes me very nervous. I'm more comfortable with cars, they're a little more predictable.
