SocalMoto.org for a FREE, yes, FREE track day:
There is no such thing.
Sure entry might be free but I will be shelling at some point I can assure you.
Are the tires free?
There's $200 and I haven't even started yet.

PS I live right next to Fontana.
Isn't there riding available there?
I wouldn't go all the way to buttonwillow or the like to ride a track.
Isn't that past bakersfield?
$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$

If any of this was really free Id have been there already.
I heard once you do go you might as well hand over your bank account anyway.

So far you kept it right side up in the twisties lol.

I think you should stay away from any Rockstore rides we do.
You drop your bike on a harley and you'll get us all killed lololol

Just giving you crap man.

Oh, no, not that last one, but the rest, yes.

As for riding the track, it sounds really fun but also a pain in the ass. Removing the mirrors, covering the headlights, having to (most likely) purchase new tires afterwards, etc.
I'd love to ride the track someday, but in the mean time, I'll just practice by hitting the twisties.

For anyone who hasn't ridden with me before, you should know I don't ride hard. I'm sure I could ride faster on the twisties, but I prefer not to. I'd rather be alive to say I rode on GMR than to have someone saying at my funeral, "Well, he certainly did hit that apex pretty fast..."

Whoa there chief. Back off that for a moment. This is in memory of a friend on that board who was just lost to Ortega, not some scam. Yeah, they're not paying to maintain everyone's bikes for them, so if they have old, worn down tires, then yes, they will have to buy new ones (which they'll have to do even if they never go to the track). But if they don't have transportation, they're offering rides. If they don't have all the gear they need, a number of people of different sizes have offered up their own for the day so it can still be done.

The admission itself will be free for the day, and there will be plenty of support and assistance in the pits for answering questions, shade, and I'm sure even extra water and snacks.

TrackDaz is also offering some free rides on another weekend in honor of his memory.

I get that canyons can be fun, but when I start watching the people I know or care about die or get paralyzed, or someone who got a motorcycle BECAUSE OF ME now walking with a cane for the rest of his life because he couldn't cool it on public roads, the whole "hahaha we're such squids" thing stops being such a hilarious joke. No one who says "take it to the track" is doing it to be a dick. It's because that crap hurts, and the track is one way to lessen the chances of these kinds of things without just giving up something we all love.

Sorry for the rant. It just really struck a nerve to watch someone try to cheapen the whole In Memorium track day effort because they're bitter and butthurt over nothing.

After reading about the free track day i think it is a very nice offer by Trackdayz. Looks like they want to use it to show street/canyon riders there is a safer place to push your limits. I don't see anything wrong with this, I am sure that the winning poster will have everything they need provided that day, treated like a king i am sure. It helps promote the organization, Safe riding and track riding and that cant be all that bad.
